Maybe me. I wonder how much the entry fee is? I wonder how fast it will fill up? How fast do these Ironman 70.3 registrations fill up?

I think it just depends on the event. In the inaugural Kansas 70.3 this year, online registration was open until 1 week before, but you could register at the site on the Friday or Saturday before. Others I believe are already full - don't quote me on that though!

Ha,ha.

Actually there's 2 others registered as well

If you register by the end of the month you get $10 off.  It's only valid though for the first 200 registrants though.

Visit the GA forum- there's a thread about the race and a coupon code that you can use to get $10.  After this month you can register and pay the normal price.  It's a weird registration process.

What does the weather tend to be like in Augusta in Sept?

I'll admit I'm thinking about it.  But the disconnect on registration dates already does make me wonder what other first year glitches there will be.  (I'm a little afraid of being an RD's guinea pig, LOL.)

iwantotri - 2008-06-20 11:50 PM What does the weather tend to be like in Augusta in Sept?

It kinda just depends.  "Usually" by the end of Sept. it's less humid and the nights/mornings are cooler and the days are warm.  Last year was just a really long, hot summer and it was still hot and humid until November-ish.  It never really cooled down.  So it's really hard to say what type of weather to expect.  I'm hoping next year we have more of the "usual" summer next year for the race.  The river is a lot cooler than the lakes here so I would expect a wetsuit legal swim.

I'm considering it.  Planning on my first HIM next year and this would be a good time.  Augusta's not that far away.

It's a little hard not to do a race in your own backyard, especially one of this magnitude. So that, and I already volunteered to host the pre-race dinner. So I guess I'll be racing.

Since Jim is in charge of the pre-race dinner, does that put me in charge of the post race party?

I think bluejack said something about that, but you live a whole lot closer to the race site than he does.

I registered on June 17th!  That's the earliest I've pre-registered for a race ever.  Even IMFL only was a year in advance.  Crazy huh?!  It'll be good to have a "big" race to gun for over the next year as I deal with the 1st year of being a mom!

It's my wife's birthday a few days beore, would t be tacky if i said - "honey wanna go away for your birhtday? - There is this triahtlon in Georgia....."

I'm thinking about it. Would be a nice getaway from Wisconsin.

Does anyone know how hilly the bike course is? This will be my fist HIM and since I live in Florida, I only have a few bridges for my hill training.

Thanks!!

I would train on hills if I were you.  Here's the elevation profile that run4yrlif posted- it's in this other Augusta 70.3 thread:
