Burger and a beer!

If I can find it, my beer of choice after a race is "Racer 5" IPA from Bear Republic.

Upload my Garmin data to Strava and look at the segments, and usually create one for the course.  If it's a sprint race then I decide what my workout for the day will be.  If it was a longer race I drink a beer, pass out, wake up, and eat everything.

Eat whatever I can find at the race....drink a ton of water/Gatorade (the only time I drink Gatorade). Go home/get in the car to drive home and eat for about 1-2 hrs...nap for a bit...eat for the next few hours.

I usually try to make healthy choices about diet. The day of a race after I finish, I eat anything I can get my hands on.

I also usually eat vegetarian. Post race I don't. I give myself that day to cheat and enjoy myself.

I think I put it in the pre-race ritual thread but....

1. Lie around or pursue cooling options (sponges, cold shower) until I no longer feel like puking
2. Get back in the ocean (in my Asia races) and do some easy swimming and bobbing around.
3. Rinse off, retrieve bike (if it involved a bike; I also do aquathlons); return to hotel (only done one tri from home)
4. Food--usually Indonesian or Malaysian, tea tarik, Chinese doughnut thingie (Singapore food-court stuff)
5. Power shopping. I get myself some new clothing item if I podium.
6. Airport or more swimming (depends on departure day)
7. Dinner
8. Vegetating and bed

If it's in the US, then skip the swim (cold water) and replace Indonesian food with Italian, probably spaghetti or ravioli with meatballs. And the Frapuccino ritual--during one race a few years ago where I felt really crappy, for some reason I promised myself a Frapuccino in bed if I podiumed. I swear it was all that got me through the last half mile. So often there's a Frapucino, possibly in bed, but sometimes with the food, during the shopping, or even at the airport, in there somewhere.

LOL, guilty!

Usually 1. a meal of whatever I want 2. nap and 3. shower, not necessarily in that order, followed by relaxing for the rest of the day.

x2!

The best fun are post running races that a few friends and family are in. We hunker down for martinis, beer and greek food. A Gyro goes down so nicely.

sportsstats local to us are typically live or near live with the chip timing so we can all do some analysis and excuse making !!!:-) as we enjoy some refreshments.

Not really worked out a post triathlon ritual yet. That will come.

At the race - water, gatorade, whatever quick calories I can put down to refuel. If it a summer tri, I get right back in the lake if I can. Occasionally I'll do the post race beer thing at the venue but usually just whatever liquid is around and something salty (chiiiiiiiiiiiiiiips).

Once I'm home - champagne! It's always good to toast another finish line. Usually followed by beer, and either whatever I want to eat, or what's handy in the house depending on my level of motivation. I've eaten everything from a giant salad to a big mac and fries. Then, vegging allllll day.

Napping would be awesome, but I ingest caffeine during races and I don't normally, so I usually finish and am wired the rest of the day.

The next day or two, I try to get in the pool or on the trainer for an easy spin, but sometimes I'll take them off if I'm completely wrecked from the race.

First priority is drinking a protein shake to replenish and minimize muscle pain the next day. Muscle Milk will do in a pinch, but I prefer 1st Phorm Level 1 or Pride Respect powder. Expensive, but worth it. Next, walk around or do a little jog to get the lactic acid moving out. A nap might be in order after a few hours and a big meal with a beer at supper. It works for me. Everyone is different.

Throw everything in the car in no order whatsoever - then head to taco bell for food, then somewhere for a Milkshake. Topped off by a good nap.

I take a really good shower which includes exfoliating to get rid of the grime and race numbers. Moisturize the skin well to try and minimize damage from the sun, put on my favorite PJs, then lay in bed all day dozing on and off while rehydrating with various beverages including beer. After one disappointing race, I drank that beer in the shower. I finally eat something between 3-5pm when I have an appetite again. My sweet husband takes care of everything while this happens.

My best post race ritual is after the TRIKW in Key West. Shower, head down to Duval street, find a sports bar, watch college football and drink beer all afternoon, head back to the hotel for the late game and fall a sleep with the TV on before half time.

My second best post race ritual is at the Tri-Cooter which has a small town fall festival associated with it. Cheese steak sub with a power drill sliced deep fried potato. Awesome!

^^This guy nailed it.

Usually once the race is over I send a text to the wife saying something like "Finished.  Didn't Die. See you in about XX hours"  I can pad the XX with usually about 30 minutes to an hour depending on if I am waiting for awards or a buddy to finish.  Within my pad time I will rehydrate, take some pics with the tri club and search for the nearest Chic Fil A.
