Sunny
Total Time = 34m 48s
Overall Rank = 247/374
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 27/40
Pre-race routine:

woke up. had some coffee and a bowl of cereal.
Event warmup:

did the 1/4 mile race with my 3 1/2 year old daughter.
Run
  • 34m 48s
  • 5 kms
  • 06m 58s  min/km
Comments:

run was tough for me, even though this distance is normally a fun one. lack of sleep and illness played a huge role in my enjoyment. being passed by the elite 10k runners on their third lap as i finished up my second was humbling. the top 10k male actually finished his race just a few minutes after i finished my 5k!
What would you do differently?:

not much i could have done differently. my goal was to finish in better time than my first 5k last season, and i did that (although i'm still waiting for the official numbers to be posted online).
Post race
Warm down:

juice and a cookie. a little bit of stretching.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

this race would have been a breeze had i been in better condition to run. since i was just getting over the flu, and was even more sleep deprived than normal (which is somthing), this little 5k was more painful than some of the longer runs and races i've done!

Event comments:

this was a fun event, it was just had for us to enjoy ourselves since we were just getting over the flu. ella normally has a lot of fun at races, whether she's running or not. she had a good time visiting with 'running bear' (a guy in a big polar bear costume and a hula skirt), but she didn't like running in the cold and was VERY ready to go home by the time i crossed the finish line.

awesome race Autumn!! You are fast girl, don't know what you are down about, but I guess you know in your heart you could have done better since you had recently been sick.

Nice run, Autumn. Don't worry about those 10k elistists... they're all freakishly fast and have no resemblence to normal humans. You done great.

here is a picture of my daughter's race. she is 6th to the right of running bear, in the red coat and light pink fleece pants (mama is standing behind her). it was VERY cold the day of the race, so we were very proud that she even made it to the start line. she finished and received a certificate!
