Total Time = 1h 42m 42s
Overall Rank = 58/292
Age Group = Clydesdale
Age Group Rank = 2/14
Pre-race routine:

Get there early. Listen to IPOD and walk around checking out transition and the entry exit points. Walk down to the water and stretch while looking over the course. Do the ceremonial visit to the port-a-john. Head back to t transition and finish setting up.
Event warmup:

Talk to family pre-race.
Swim
  • 25m 11s
  • 750 meters
  • 03m 22s / 100 meters
Comments:

I don't know what to say... the time does not reflect it but this was by far my best and most relaxed swim. I actually learned a lot in the water today as far as sighting and staying calm. I feel like I finally hit that point with the OWS and now I'm looking forward to gaining some speed.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Transition 1
  • 01m 41s
Comments:

Not bad. I was hoping to be under 2 minutes so this was good. Need to get a pair of tri shoes for next season.
What would you do differently?:

Can't recall anything specific.
Bike
  • 50m 50s
  • 15.5 miles
  • 18.30 mile/hr
Comments:

Bike felt pretty good. I put my aero bars back on right before this races and I am really glad I had them. Provided some much needed rest for my arms after the swim. I passed quite a few people and got passed by two male and one female
What would you do differently?:

Get some more hill owrk in prior to the race.
Transition 2
  • 01m 4s
Comments:

Fairly good transition. Still haven't managed to get this under a minute but I think I'm getting there.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe pick a different position on the rack.
Run
  • 23m 56s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 43s  min/mile
Comments:

Run felt great and I probably should have pushed a little harder but I am happy with it. It's a nother PR and I now know I can go even faster. Legs felt great going into the run... shoes felt like slippers.
What would you do differently?:

Push a little more on the first half.
Post race
Warm down:

Brisk walk... lots of water. Catch a good sunburn waiting for awards.

Event comments:

Good race. Lots of twon support. Very organized as with all CGI races.

Great job on the Clyde placing!!

I don't know about your guys swim, but everyone is thinking ours was long as the times (even taking out the run portion to the transition) were slower by far than what people had done last year.

Great job, Scott! Congrats on how great the OWS went also. That is tough to get used to and I'm glad to hear it is getting there...keep on working hard!

Good race Scott.  Your swim might have been better than you think becauses I don't think the courses are ever marked out very accurately.  Although I don't swim, I always compare myself to how well I did against a group of good guys.  That might show more improvement for you than the overall time.

Good job on the run, I'm still trying to get that fast on the run.

Edit:  Almost forgot, congrats on the 2nd place finish.

I'm with you. I did the Olympic and the swim seemed longer and my time was significantly greater than other races of equal length. I didn't feel any pull or slowing in the water (curent etc), so the length had to be the variable. Who knows, sure felt long though
