I just crashed on the BIKE TRAINER.

How the HELL_ do you do that!?!?  Thank god my "coffee table" is one of those cushy types otherwise it would have been UGLY.

oh oh oh. And I fell TWICE.

I called it quits after 35 min. uh. after the last fall.

clearly I need to make sure that my bike is hooked into the trainer SECURELY.

I admit I've done that but only once. I worked hard and it had become loose.

I'm afraid I'd hit my head on the fireplace bricks.

We all learn from the silly things we do.

Thanks for the laughs.  That is absolutely something that would happen to me.  So, as a trainer virgin, what exactly does one need to do to make sure she doesn't fall off....twice?  Or maybe you're not the person to ask.

I just can't see how you could fall off a trainer. Maybe gravity is different in your part of the world.

my head is a magnet for the ground. It's not always activated though. Sort of like an electromagnet. Whenever I start thinking hard, my head always ends up hitting the ground. I try not to thing very hard.

That being said, I've never fallen off my trainer. Almost, but not all the way.

I fell off my trainer twice as well, different days, several years ago. I didn't like the way the bike was secured (lackthereof) so I sold it and got a different, better one. No problems since!

Mine was hardwood floors. Ouchie.

Your story needs to change if you want to gain cred with the road race guys...you fell off your rollers, not your trainerWink Rollers is easy as..well...falling off a bike (sorry, couldn't help it) if you zone out...

edit: Looks like crazy beat me to it...

Luckily you had on your high-visibility jacket so the lounge-chair didn't run you over!

Glad you are OK. You might consider taking your bike and trainer to your LBS and ask them to show you the best way to set it up.

This is just me but I thought you were going to tell us you got rug burn from some other form of exercise (that's right let your mind slip to the gutter LOL). Now that's what I would have told everybody!

Thanks for the warning on the trainers. Mine's being delivered today, I'll probably be in the same boat because I'm really clumsy.

Andy,

I did that in the spring when I first got my bike and trainer.  Did anyone see your accidents?

You only do that when you worry about damage from the headboard.

Oh sorry, it wasn't THAT kind of carpet burn.

I WAS wearing my helmet. and thankfully NO ONE was home.

^totally kidding. seriously.

Clearly, I need to go get my new contacts and glasses from the eye doc. that's what I'm blaming it on currently.

although i am clumsy. naturally. *sigh*

latrina- you have the KK road machine, right? Make sure you place the wheel hub thingy into the slot on the left hand side so it sits all the way in. There is only one way it goes in all the way. AND the lever in the locked position on the right hand side before you turn the knobs to tighten everything.

Pm me if you have any questions. Oh, and right now carpet burn sounds alot better than my road rash!

I would almost like to know how you are getting rug burn AND bouncing the noggin off the headboard. I think you may be doing something wrong!

Definitely something I have worried about, as my bike goes in and out of the trainer a lot this time of year.  Making a mistake locking it would not be fun.  Mine is set up with an unobstructed line to the "man cave's" projection screen TV.  If the bike gets unlocked, I'm going to be eating a Toshiba in very short order, and my wife has already proclaimed no replacement for the big TV is allowed.

Glad you are mostly ok, other than carpet burn and bruised ego.

yep it is easy to fall off the rollers. I rode my rollers for the 2nd time the other day and thought I would try to watch tv while doing it. Don't watch tv while trying to ride rollers for only your 2nd time. It was quite embarrasing telling my girlfriend that she might be right about me wearing my helmet indoors.

X2 LOL!

I had no idea trainers were so dangerous! I have never fallen off mine. Maybe I'm not getting into my workouts!
