Lori I don't know where you guys met for the ride exactly, but we could meet for lunch at the base of that bridge that goes over PCH like we did last time for lunch, in the expo parking lot I think. |

Ventura, CA | Subject: RE: Surf City Half Marathon I'm running and it will be my wife's first half! We're both nervously tapering and suffering together: hungry, cranky, can't sleep, you know the drill... What a bonding experience! It's really hilarious. Hope the weather is somewhat better than last year, I had the worst kind of rash... See you out there, have a great race! |

Master 1281 Long Beach, CA | Subject: RE: Surf City Half Marathon TriBabe2006 - 2009-01-28 4:34 AM How about we meet on the beach parking lot side of the bridge at about noon? This will be for those who want to go to lunch only. We will hang till about 12:15 before heading up to Main Street to find a place to eat. I will be there in a light blue ball cap, right near the stairs.. All are welcome! Is that the foot bridge south of Main that is near a big hotel? I'll see you guys there! |

Anybody still up for a ride beforehand on Saturday?

Member 29 | Subject: RE: Surf City Half Marathon I've been working nights (6pm-3am) for the last couple months, for January I switched my sleeping schedule to be work form 6-3, stay awake after work, do a run a 6:50 (marathon start time) and then sleep from 9am-5pm. This seemed great to get me ready for Feb 1st, but now they are switching me to days and want me to change tomorrow. :-/ I'm leaving work early tonight and coming in tomorrow at noon but for friday I will be working 10am-7pm. I hate to mess with my schedule a few days before the race! I'm not sure what the best way to get through the weekend is going to be, but hopefully a day or two is enough to work it out! Bib # 883, it's my 4th marathon (3rd one I've trained for and the 1st one I don't have to fly to). Hoping to make it a BQ.
From everything I've read, there are not offcial pacers and aid stations are handing out clif blocks instead of gu, so pack your own if you like. |

Master 1281 Long Beach, CA | Subject: RE: Surf City Half Marathon Okay...so do I go long sleeves or short sleeves for this race? I know the morning will be cold, but I heat up when running. I even got heat stroke at a 4 mile run this past summer (granted it was 90 some odd degrees out and I was dehydrated). I'm afraid I'll freeze in short sleeves, but don't want to get too hot in long. I'm used to tris and being able to stash a sweatshirt in my transition bag. Is there a place near the start or finish line where if I wore an old sweatshirt I could put it until after the race? Just curious. I've only done 3 other 5ks and they've all been in summer! |

Expert 938 Orange County, California | Subject: RE: Surf City Half Marathon It looks like it will get quite warm a couple of hours after the race starts. Cool at the start. Do you have bike arm armers you could put in a pocket? Wear sunglasses, and perhaps visor or hat. We have been having strong winds, and at times sand can blow off the beach into your eyes. |

Veteran 278 Surf City USA Huntington Beach, Calif. | Subject: RE: Surf City Half Marathon Athlete Home Race Bib Mark Chavira (M42) Huntington Beach CA Half Marathon 6038 I will be walking from my home I live up Huntington Street (near at the start). Your welcome to park near my home and walk down. I am not happy though. A friend of mine has been buggin me to do a 1/2 with her. Runs alone are not my thing but I figured I would do it with her since she has asked a gajillion times. Well on Wednesday she finally fessed up and told me she is not running it becuase it sold out before she signed up. Oooo I am pissed. But I'm gonna do it anyway. I will be the silver haired guy limping along. Say "hi" as you pass me :-) Edited by Modie 2009-01-31 2:21 PM |
