Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 5:30, ate a couple of pieces of toast and honey, had some coffee and headed down to the Battleship. We got there way too early, 6:15, so just waited in the car and stayed warm.

No warmup, walked to the start with about 5 minutes to go.

Comments:

I have not been able to do this run for the last 4 years, so I was really looking forward to it. I thought I might have a good run but was not sure how my legs would feel after last weekends HIM. My plan was to just go out and enjoy it, but to try and negative split the last part. Felt great, got around the lake and decided to pick it up at mile 8. I saw Carol (Running In NC) out there, she was looking strong. The last 3 miles hurt, but at this point I knew that I had a shot at a PR, and I could see someone I wanted to beat up ahead of me at mile 11. Ended up with almost a 2 minute PR, I was very happy with this race. Negative split for me on longer races is the way to go. And it was much more fun to run this course without having swum or biked before it:)
What would you do differently?:

I hindsight I could have pushed a little harder at the start, but I really had no intention of PR'ing.

Warm down:

Waited in a long line for a slice of pizza, another long line for a beer. Hung out for awards, went out to a great lunch with some friends.

Nice job on the PR, a week after HIM no less, and the negative split. I liked this race last year, its just a lot of effort to get down there and do it.
