PS - I was planning on bringing my ski boat to Black Bear... so I hope you're staying an extra day and not planning on killing yourself (I assume it's not an "A race" and will have some waterskiing/wakeboarding legs left in you.

Funny you say that.  As of 30 seconds ago, I now think I'm going to BB.

IMLP...I seem to have made the list.

1.  Not sure, will be a secret.
2.  Would be my first IM if it happens.  Will also be a secret.
3.  Yep, would love to go up in June.  Would also do April or May if I had the opportunity, regardless of whether or not I do the race.

Anyone want to tell me that BB + Eagleman isn't a good idea?  I'm all ears.

That is a really bad idea.  2 weeks in between HIMs and then your first IM 6 weeks later.  How do you think that sounds?

FWIW, no LP for me but I might see many of you at Black Bear.

Hmmm... maybe I have my dates wrong - I have BB as 5/2 and EM as 6/14.  So more like 6 weeks between HIMs, and then another 6 until IMLP.

So is it still a bad idea?

Crapsters - the BT race calendar was wrong when I put it on my "my races" log, and you were right.  BB is 5/31/09.

So I guess I'm just doing Eagleman.  I may be stupid, but I'm not crazy.  Or maybe it's the other way around.

GoPennState - if you agree to do IMLP and abandon this secrecy stuff, I'll still bring my boat to Black Bear as a jockstrapper + jockstrapper/athlete watersports proverder.

I wanna be one of the cool kids!! Official training starts Jan 1st, I'm trying to find the MOJO to get off my arse now. Family and crazy schedule are getting in the way at the moment. A lot of projects around the house that have built up that I hope to have done before next season.

Speaking of a crazy schedule. How does Boston in April, Pocono Marathon in May, Eagleman in June sound for warm-ups to Placid in July sound?

I've been on a fruits and veggies "cleansing" diet for 4 days now with 10 days to go (if I make it), I'm beginning to feel like a rabbit. I'm trying to figure out an issue I have with running and pooping. I want to start with a clean slate and see if a certain food was causing the issue.

I'll find the MOJO soon enough. With PennState threatening to kick my butt at Eagleman and Placid I better find it sooner than later.

Josh, if you want to race hills 5/2, come on out to California and race Wildflower Long with us -- y'all keep talking about BlackBear but I refuse to believe that it's harder, or more fun, than WF.   1000+ft climb at mile 42; Macca says it's the hardest run course he's ever done...

On another note, I have two different (not cheap) reservations for race week at LP -- where is everyone staying?

Ha, I'm screwed.  I signed up via the CF and still haven't reserved anywhere.  Yay me!  And, my entire family is expecting me to find a place for them, as well.

I have two reservations as well - but will be staying at that newer Marriott just as you come into town.

PennState - 2008-12-04 9:21 PM I booked a place to stay early last time and have nothing as of yet. I am planning on going cheaper this year, probably staying outside of Placid. I won't even look until 2 months before... stuff opens up late, especially with this economy

That makes me feel better.

I have a 2+loft cabin in Jay, and I also have a double-double res. at the Courtyard Marriott in LP.  As long as the cabin doesn't burn down, I'll let the Marriott reservation go.  If my family bails on me, I will have extra cabin space, too ... nobody will be homeless on race day.

Last year, I stayed right on Mirror Lake Dr., right behind where the special needs bags are.  I think this year I too am going to go a bit further outside Lake Placid.  Since I was so close to all the action, it got a bit distracting and I don't think I rested as much as I should have.  This year, I'm looking to put a little space between me and the crowds.  Still have to reserve a place, and I'm also not worried - something will open up.

Post for house shares on the forums ...... I ended up staying with someone from ST and only had to pay $1200 for the week and we were RIGHT next to the oval just one street over with enough room for both our families.

Bob .... cleansing??  Seriously???  Voodoo witch medicine.  Absolutely zero science behind it and often does more harm than good.  You are a smart guy, you can't seriously believe in that stuff .....

Wow so cool that so many people will be needed to be added to the list of LP doer’s.

I got my reservations this past summer.  I’m staying downtown Lake Placid at Northwoods Inn.  Was not extremely impress with this hotel but it’s real convenient to everything.

Thanks Rick. I can't say that I believe in these cleansing diets. I have just been trying to figure out some GI issues for a while and wanted to start from scratch so to speak. I wasn't trying to follow any specific diet, just trying to eat F & V for a while then start adding things in to see if I can figure things out. Nothing scientific, just maybe a bit extreme. Today on my run, after 4 days of nothing but F & V's I still had to stop and "drop", even after going twice before I left home.  So much for that project. Back to the drawing board.

If you are having GI issues, my guess is it is something dietary that your body isn't agreeing with or the time you are eating before a workout.  You may have a food allergy that has never been apparent.

My wife is super holistic and was a nutritional consultant.  In many ways she is like me in that she tries many different things and evaluates on a global level both the benefits and deficiencies before really making an educated decision on things.  She has been exposed to a lot of these types of "cleansing" diets and the gist of them is always the same ....... basically starve yourself, deplete your entire system, and build it back up from scratch.  Not really the best way to approach a problem, espcially when the problem is not 100% clear from the start.  It is all about balance, not radical tactics.

Sorry for the hijack .......

This past year, I ran a loop of the run course and stopped in the EconoLodge (I think that's it) and reserved a room. Pretty reasonable rates especially right on the course.
