Overcast
Total Time = 00m
Overall Rank = 106/199
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 11/15
Pre-race routine:

Oatmeal with rasins and a rasin bagel.
Event warmup:

Stroll down to the start from time share that was about .2 miles away.
Run
  • 4h 47m 32s
  • 26.2 miles
  • 10m 58s  min/mile
Comments:

I was miserable the entire time. The problem with gaining 15 lbs since Ironman is that you have to haul that weight upa dn down hills. Not to mention that the elevation kicked my arse just because I did not bother to spend any real time training for this event. However, I still beat last years time by about 49 minutes.
What would you do differently?:

Perhaps train for this run - but not sure I will ever be a "runner".
Post race
Warm down:

Jetted tub and a chocolate shake then a walk back to the race line for results.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Weight and lack of training.

Event comments:

I thought I packed everything, only to note that I forgot my Accelerade. After several hours and lack of customer service by the vendor, I found that Vitamin World in the oak Creek Outlets sold the product. Problem is they only sold lemonade and orange. I use lime so thought lemonade would be best. I was wrong - made it work, but my tummy was not my buddy after the race. Much puking of clear fluid told me that lime can not be forgotten in the future!

Course: All hills all day. the start was at a new location, the cutural center so we began with a .2 mile down grade and then a .3 mile uphill to remind us that htis is not a curse for those that like it flat! Then it was an out and back. At about mile 7 the dirt began! Nothing says Sedoan like the red dust you gather on this run! all hills all day make for a great 26.2 mile route.

Ewe! Puking????  Well, even though you said you didn't train much you still dropped a huge chunk of time off last years time!!! That's amazing!!! So I think you still did very well!!  You won't see me signing up for that bad boy!!! So good for you!

Jerry - you improved your time by 49 minutes from last year - that is SPECTACULAR!  It's especially impressive considering you didn't feel that you trained very well leading up to the race.  No matter how many marathons someone runs, every one is an accomplishment in itself.  You should be VERY proud of this and all of your other accomplishments - great job!!

Great job, Jerry! Taking 49 minutes off last year's time is a fantastic accomplishment, especially if you didn't feel well trained for the event. Glad you beat the snow!

Great job Jerry! If you can barely train and still beat last years time by 49 minutes its pretty impressive!

Great race, with little training!  I, too, have gained weight since IM.  It happens.

Nice PR.

Oh man. Not sure how you can complain about a PR like that. Good work. Just imagine what you could do if you trained for it.
