Run
Comments: Started off running and was a little scared because I could not feel my hands or my feet. The feet warmed up quickly and painlessly, but the hands were another story. They started to hurt so badly that I was practically in tears from mile 0.5-1.5. My DH asked it I wanted to stop, but I was like how is stopping going to make my hands feel any better. Eventually they started to feel better and I actually got to enjoy the last 3.5 miles of the race. First mile was around 11/mile, second mile was 11:23/mile. Not really sure what they were after that. It was really fun getting to run through the streets of Chicago (especially since I doubt I will ever do the marathon). Getting up Mount Roosevelt at the end was tough, but satisfying as I got to pass a lot of people who were walking. This was almost a 5 minute PR for me so I am pretty happy. What would you do differently?: Not live in Chicago where it snows at the end of March! No I think that I could have been even faster had it not been for the weather and the road conditions. As far as what I could personally do better, well thats easy...train more. A year ago I couldn't run a mile so it is just going to take time to get faster! Post race
Warm down: Walked home as quickly as possible! What limited your ability to perform faster: Weather, fitness Event comments: Given the weather I thought the organizers did a good job. THANK YOU!! to all of the volunteers out on the course!! Last updated: 2009-01-04 12:00 AM

Woke up, looked out the window at the snow...said are we really going to do this..said yes yes we are! Ate a PB&J on wheat bread and a banana. Left our house at 5 till 9 and walked through the slush and the wind to the start area. My DH was supposed to be in Corral C but elected to run with me since there was a chance of me getting a PR but not really a chance of him getting one.
Stretched at home, stood in the cold bouncing for 30 minutes (Not sure if you can call that a warm up)
