FWIW, my suburban was nimble enough to avoid getting t-boned today.  She didn't even look back.  The funny thing is, I immediately thought of this thread.

And since this is a tri forum, I was on my way to swim.

AMEN... so, can you live without your burb.

I could, but I don't want to, and don't have to...  I'll gladly pay the extra $$$.

We have a Chevy Silverado that we don't use too much; too expensive and gas guzzling. Who needs all that room, except on long trips and pulling the horse trailer.

Besides, I can fit tri gear, AND dog crates in my Honda Element, it costs about $20 to fill up, and it gets great gas mileage. I'm not sure of the purpose of this thread by a triathlete who should probably care about polluting the air and the water, except to thumb his nose at those who do care.

I just love how angry people get about things around here....

It was meant as a play off the "I HEART my Civic thread" where everyone was talking about their small economy cars and hybrids.  Sure there was some ribbing but I am amazed at the venom that has come out fo this group about this thread.

I would dare guess that my truck is probably less polluting that half of the cars currently on the road.

So becuase I require a truck to haul a trailer and for other work activities I suddenyl do not care about the air or water?

and what's with the "you don't care about the environment because you don't drive an economy car, thus I'm better then you" attitude.

I do care about the environment.  I also have no desire to trade in my american made, steel (ie recycled) truck for a brand new, hunk of foreign plastic.  That, my friend would be wastefull, and reducing waste is a key of being green.

I have a lifted 08 4x4 4-door Jeep Wrangler. ... But it is sooo much fun to drive, and yes, I take it off road.

I have an '08 4-door Rubicon (stock). It's mostly just for plowing my road so I only put 3900 miles on it in the first year. I take the top off in May and leave it off all summer. It is a lot of fun. I'm not much of an off-roader but I do take guests into the backcountry which they really love.

I have a 5.4L V8 ford supercrew, a full size Chevy Tahoe and a 68 Camaro!  Not one of my cars get above 16 mpg! Unless gas is $10/gallon, i'm never giving up my big vehicles.

I have a 2006 Dodge 1/2 Ton (yes it's got a Hemi), Quad Cab, a 6" lift, 35" mud tires, chipped, and a cold air intake.  It get's between 16-17 mpg, highway.  I just made a round trip from Newport RI to Orlando FL.  Other than when I see a nice mud hole, it doesn't go off-road (more because of lack of opportunity) often.

With my chip I could drop it from 89 octane to 87 but instead I have bumped it to 90+ required.  No, I am not compensating for a smal, well, you know what, I am actually compensating for a lack of testosterone in my house due to being married, with 3 daughters, a female dog, and a gay dog.

Someone once asked me why I drive a big truck, especially with gas prices the way they were.  My reply is that I make good enough money to drive what I want, how I want.  I went a long time w/o many of the niceities (sp?) that others had and have, now I can afford most, well, some of the things I want, so I buy what I want.  I also plan to buy a really expensive, gas hog motorcycle instead of a nice Honda cruiser!  I say, if you can affoed it, buy it, but I also say don't bi(&h about costs when they sky rocket.

I've owned trucks my whole life.  (I did have a camero back in the 80's but that didn't last long).  Always 4 wheel drive.  I actually use mine, a lot.  One of the few that probably do.  Gas mileage is not that big of a concern to me.  It is what it is.  But whatever the case, I know that no politician of any type is going to tell me what I "should" or "shouldn't" be driving for the "good of the country".

... and that Toyota Tundra is defnitely the next on my list.  I like that one

LOVE my Durango! Put a flowmaster muffler on it to make it rumble and love hitting the mud/snow with it!
