OH CRAP!  I got a lottery slot.  Six months to go!  I guess I need to really kick up the training.  This will be my first full!

Congrats!  Are you already qualified or do you still have a HIM or IM to do to qualify?

I have not gotten the paper work yet.  I think you need to complete a HIM (at a minimium).

Correct.  Just wondering if you have already done that or if that's on your plate too.

I got a lottery spot too. I'm still in disbelief. I did IM Florida 2008, I hope that counts to qualify.

Congrats on both your lottery slots. I went last year on a lottery slot.  It was an awesome experience.

excellent news on the lottery slot... I hope you enjoy it.

I got 1 quick question about it after looking at the list - if 50 slots are allocated purely to those outside of the US, then why do 4 names with the country USA appear in the 50 non US slots... ?

I'm thinking that there are 4 extra International slots going - but who's going to tell the 4 people from the USA that there was a bit of a mistake...

I live in the US but I am not a US citizen so I have to enter as International. I even checked with WTC to make sure I entered into International even though I am a permanent resident of the US but a citizen of Canada.

I'm sure the others are in the same boat.

thanks - I guess that would explain it then. I had thought that this might be the case after I posted, but you never know.

I understand that the rules are the rules, however it does seem a bit harsh that out of 200 slots, 150 slots are decicated to US citizens, and that only 50 are for internationals. Then out of the 50 international slots, they can also be won by those living in the US. oh well, that's what happens I guess & there is nothing we can do about it but work harder and try again next year..

All I can say, is well done to those who got in through the lottery - have fun

I qualified for Kona by a stroke of luck by barely finishing IM China in a time of 16:34 (in heat which reached a high of 113 degrees F!). I'm so psyched but am now incredibly poor by deciding to take the slot. Does anyone have any ideas on how to save money in a situation like this when you really can't afford to skimp on the essentials, like bike tune-ups, appropriate gear or decent quality equipment?

Thanks - and congrats to all lottery winners and qualifiers!

We only get 50 lottery slots and they get 150 I don't think that is fair since we the world have a way higher population then the US it should be the other way around

sooo excited!!

I'm renting a bike in Kona actually (...pausing for reaction...), because, well, it's a long story. But I'm gonna be riding a Qintana Roo Tequilo with Alex 220 clinchers:

I'm pumped about that! What about you guys?
