Subject: Cinco de Mayo Mutisport Challenge
In honor of Cinco de Mayo we will be competing for a virtual bottle of Tequila. Winning team gets to eat the worm!

Choose a goal in Swim and Bike and Run (time or distance or sessions)

For extra excitement:

50% bonus for brick sessions: whatever distance/time you do as a brick, add an extra 50%. For the purpose of this challenge a brick is either a Swim/Bike workout or a Bike/Run workout where the second event begins within 15 minutes of the end of the first event.

100% bonus for races: whatever distance/time you do during a race, add an extra 100%.

"Lead brick" penalty: if you are weighing down your team by failing to train you may be bumped off the team: failure to be at 50% of your goal by the end of the 3rd week (May 23) will result in your being dropped from the challenge. Special consideration will be made if you know at the start of the month that your schedule is skewed/weighted for the last part of the month. If this is the case you must let me know at the beginning of the challenge.

Weekly team standings will be posted!

Please state your desire to participate and state your goals. Teams will be set up next week. Thanks!

Is there a challenge to see how many challenges one person can do at the same time?

No?  How about a support group for the challenge addicted?

I can't say no to a challenge.  I'm in.  I'll get back to you with my goals shortly.  I was just about to figure out my swimming for that other challenge anyway...

Challenge addiction? I have *no* idea what you're talking about! Heh.....

Run, bike AND swim? Eh yeah, I really should be doing all three of those anyway.

OK. I'm in. I'll post my goals later.

Thanks for organizing this, Nicole!

(But I really don't want to eat a worm.....)

Bugs are like protein.

I'll play, but I'll have to come back with my goals. I'm kind of in free-form recovery right now. (That's code for being a big lazy sloth.)

Do practice races get a bonus?  I am in a clinic and we will be doing 3 practice tris in May?

I would like to join, will provide goals a little later.

Your practice races certainly count. Count them as races if it's all three events, bricks if it's just 2 events.

I'm seriously considering joining this challenge but am a bit slow and trying to wrap my head around the rules   When we give our goals do we already include the bonus' or just list our goals then put in the bonus time/distance after the fact?  I know...I'm probably making this waaaay more complicated than it needs to be but I have a race that is supposed to be a tri and it looks like it will be turning into a duathlon (damn jellys!!).  Plus, I totally suck at math and am askeered of trying to figure out all the bonus' with planned bricks (maybe that's why I'm so easily confused on the rules ~ ya think?!.)

You are supposed to state a goal that takes everything into account. If you want to make it easy, state your goals without any bonuses and don't bother with them at all.

Nicole, I two questions. I have a running race in May, does it count as a race even if it's only one sport? Also, I have a duathlon, which will be 2 sports, but it's run/bike/run so does it count as a race too?

I guess so but since you said two sports is a brick I want to make sure
