Don't ride it, but would rate it an excellent "entry-level" tri bike.  And it's really only "entry-level" based on what's out there today with more aero tubing, wheel cut-outs, etc.  You could race to a very high level on that bike.

I have this bike although mine is black w/white lettering.  I absolutely love the bike, it is my first and only tri bike.  It's a very smooth riding machine and I'm very happy with it.

I have a 2005 cervelo dual, which was basically replaced by the P2 SL I think in 06 or 07...

great bike, if it fits you, you'll love it.

This is my bike, Trishie, and I love it!!  Still getting used to some things, and haven't raced with her yet, but I definitely feel faster on her!  (and she looks super fast, and that is really what is important, right?)

The 2009 model is called the P1. As I understand it this is the same as the previous P2 SL model.  I bought one a few weeks ago and love it.  Reasonable price compared to many tri-specific bikes. My first ride on it was in my first triathlon (risky but could not leave it in the garage).  Saw an improvement on bike course from 19.0 mph on my Specialized Allez Sport with aerobars to 20.7 on the Cervelo. Did alot of research before buying and the bike gets high marks across the board. Plenty of bike for most of us.  You can always get some race wheels with the money you save over the carbon frames .  There is a good review on the bikesport michigan website.

That bike is virtually unchanged from the Cervelo One. Nuttin wrong with it, assuming you fit on Cervelos geometry.

I've been racing on this bike since the middle of last summer.  I have absolutely no complaints

I was looking at this bike last year, but ended up with the P2C.  Was it worth the extra $800?  Probably not.  I was ready to get the aluminum version when my wife chimed in and warned me that I had better not come back next year wanting an upgrade, so I bit the bullet.

My guess is that the CF version is slightly more aerodynamic, and slightly better at absorbing road vibration.  For most, the first virtue will probably be lost, and the second can be adjusted with tire pressure, composition, or other components.

At $1199, that bike is a steal.  If it fits you, jump on it.

mmrocker13 is right on with this comment.

I have one and have raced it about a half dozen times. I bought the bike without test riding first, and even though I have been professionally fitted a few times, I never have felt like it fit me right.

With that being the case, I really don't ride it much other than races, and maybe one time right before a race. It is definately faster than my road bike, but again, it just doesn't fit right.

I plan to sell it at the end of the season and get a new TT bike. This time I will make sure to test ride before I buy.

So if you can take one for a test ride first, I would highly recommend that you do so.

The Dual didn't have a rear wheel cutout, which the P2SL always had. The Dual was dropped, not replaced by the P2SL, which was there all along.

The P2SL was the entry level tri bike for that one year ('08, IIRC), then they renumbered their models in 2009. The P1 is now the entry-level tri bike, and is pretty similar to what the P2SL was (aluminum w/rear cutout).

Upgrades from the P1 to the P2, as someone noted:

More aerodynamic frame – By exploiting the opportunities of carbon fiber, the headtube, downtube and rearwheel cutout are further improved. The seattube collar is also fully aerodynamically integrated.

Lighter frame – While the P1 already has a very competitive weight, the P2C shaves another 100g off.

Lighter, more aero fork - The P2 comes standard with the 3T Funda Pro fork.

Lighter, more aero seatpost - The P2 seatpost has a better thickness-to-chord ratio.

Componentry – The P2 is also available in a DuraAce component kit .

Too funny.  Almost exactly the same thing happened with me.  Went in to buy the P2 SL last September, and my wife talked me up into a P2C!  I love her.

Back on topic . . .
Based on the research and test riding I did last season, the P2 SL is a great bike to start with, especially at that price.  Felt great when I test road it.

Breaking News: the 2007 Cervelo P2, complete bike, can be bought for $1200 at Competitive Cyclist ... see: http://www.competitivecyclist.com/road-bikes/frame/2007-cerv%E9lo-p2-sl-ultegra-complete-bike-4880.html

The sizes available are: 48, 58 and 61

That is an incredible deal on what is an awesome bike ... provided that it fits you .  As it has been opined before: a good deal on an ill-fitting bike is wasted money.
