Saw this, had to share, then wondered who's got some other good stories or photos out there?

(This is from the Steyning Tri in the UK, May 2008 I believe?)

June 2008 - Ironman 70.3 Kansas was stopped at around 5:30 because of severe weather rolling in. I didn't mind the rain at all, but the lightning was getting pretty close and the RD said hail and possibly tornadic weather was moving in on the radar. Enough where he felt it was imperative to stop the race.

Another race in the same vicinity two weeks prior had racers taking mandatory shelter in a barn on the bike course because of a tornado on the ground nearby. Race over.

Yaay Kansas!

April of this year, snowed from the beginning of the run till about mile 30 of the bike ride, then rained a few more miles. This was the peaks to prairie in Montana where the race is Not canceled for weather.

Boston '07.  Wind, cold and rain.  Weather was so bad we found out after the fact that they almost called the race off for the first time in the races history.

Eagleman '08.  Temps at the swim start at 7:20 in the morning were already creeping up to 90 and the humidity was around 90% to boot.  By the time I dropped out of the run, the temps were in the upper 90's supposedly on a completely shadeless course.

Lake Placid '08.  Rain started on the second loop of the swim.  Other than some really brief periods later in the day it did not stop even when the midnight finishers came through.

Thanks guys, now I am really going to start to freak out about my first race this Saturday...

What will it be in washington...either wildfires because we have had warm/hot days for the last 30 days (pretty much setting a new regional weather record for longest time with no rain in the spring) or maybe that a beefy storm is forcasted sometime this weekend...oh well...

Rattlesnake Triathlon last year, in Colorado in AUGUST! (August!! damnitall!) This is in T1, as I'm getting dry socks out of a baggie, about 30 mins before they call the race for lightning. (Which put me right at the turnaround for the bike, as far out as you can get...)

So foggy you couldn't see the swim course markers.

IMLP last July it rained 4 inches over the course of the day....locals said it was one of the worst storms they remember living there 20+ years.

You can see the rain drops in all the pictures. Finisher photos of those finishing before me there are puddles they are running through. Women's T2 change tent to exit you had to go through a puddle that was 8 feet wide no way around it so if you went in there at least when I was there you came out with totally wet feet before you started the Mary.

The bad weather made it easier to focus on being safe, riding smart and it made sort of we all are suffering in this type of thinking.

Shamrock Shuffle 8k this year.  mr2tony and I did it.  They didn't clear the streets before the run so we were sloshing through 2-3 inches of VERY wet snow.  Hit a few puddles that were over ankle deep.  Cold but a blast.
