Subject: RE: Need a kick in the butt....I'm not a morning person either, if you let me I'll sleep till 11am or noon. After I decided to train for my first triathlon I noticed some problems, I couldn't fit a lot of training into the evening because that's important time I want to have with my girlfriend. To create my balance I had to make a decision, HTFU, and get up at 4:30 or 5:00 in the morning to go swim for an hour and a half before work so I could be free afterwords. I hate it when people say "I don't have time", because it's always a lie. Everyone has time, they just choose to make other things a priority. There are many things that will have a higher priority than training, like spending time with family or being able to show up to work on time. You may have to give something else up to make time for training, it could be sleeping in, it could mean missing out on something social, or a favorite TV show, that's a decision you will need to make. As soon as you make your training a priority you will find plenty of time. Also, especially in the morning, training with friends is a great motivator. You expect them to be there with you and they expect the same from you, so you become accountable to show up. Another good motivator is money. For every morning you plan to train and you can't get yourself out of bed, you send me $20. I'd be happy to implement this plan with you, and trust me, it works! = ) |
