x2   That is hands down my favorite station.  They replay the races when I am getting into bed.

I'm guessing that means Brownlee won the second ITU race as well.

If this guy could win the Olympic gold (or even just a medal) at London 2012 that would do wonders for the sport in Britain. Sports in Britain don't tend to get much exposure until someone wins something at a major competition. Cycling and swimming got so much exposure due to Britain's medal winners in Beijing.

Imagine if a British triathlete won Kona

Exactly!! I bet the vast majority of people in Britain (outside the triathlon world) have never even heard of Kona, let alone Chrissie Wellington. We need the olympics to really give triathlon a bigger profile.

The kid looks great right now in the ITU Championship series. Anyone know if he does non-drafting races?

Unfortunately Kona gets almost no coverage here in the UK, and if it does it's on some obscure sports channel that people would not generally be watching, for sure Kona would get very little exposure on the main channels despite Chrissie and her efforts.  It's a real shame, but true.

Alistair B winning the olympics would bring a boost to the exposure of the sport for sure.  I just wish everyone registered the success of some of the british triathletes like Chrissie.

That kid is a friggen stud.

In Madrid he pulled away almost right out of T2 and never looked back.  Finished it off with a 45 second lead on what looked to be a moderately challenging course (at least on the bike).  He still looked smooth as silk (despite the flailing arms).

Then in DC, Gomez really tried to hang with him, but just couldn't do it.

He looks so darn young.  But is just a machine.  Watching the DC race last night, I did notice something about him in the bike.  He was pushing a larger gear and appears to be mashing the pedals a bit more than the other guys.  But it obviously didn't hurt him.

He is DEFINITELY one to keep an eye on.

I thought that wifey and I were the only tri-dorks watching what to me has been an obscure channel

Did you see the kick that Alistair Brownlee has? The length of stride ... awesome.

If only he can learn to grab and hold onto a water cup during the run, he may be a contender at some longer races later in his career.

Hehehe!  Yeah.  I wonder if it has to do with his arm movement when he runs.  Instead of an up and down, where he can grab from the bottom up, he just swipes at it.  That was funny, at the end, though.  You could tell he was NOT happy.

Yeah, Directv doesn't get UniversalSports, but you can watch online. Directv does have VS and on Sunday at 3pm ET Hy-Vee will be on NBC. Any chance anyone knows what shoes Brownlee was running in at DC? Adidas Adizero Manas?
