So bought a Cervelo P2 DuraAce. Had the bike fit done and been logging some hours on it. Beat spending 800 bucks to upgrade my Specialized to a more Aero type bike... Well that is how I justified it... :^)~

Anyway at around 40-45 mins in the saddle my ummmmmmmm junk goes numb... If I get up out of the saddle for a bit the feeling returns...

Is this saddle angle? Mine is about as flat as I think it can get. Should I put the nose of the saddle down? Or hit up the LBS for a "friendlier" saddle?

Sorry in advance for the disturbing topic but more anonymity here. Can't see myself going in to the LBS and going "HEY!! MY JUNK GOES NUMB!!! HELP!!"

That's exactly what you need to do. Let tehm know what the problem is and see what they can do to adjust the fit to address it.

Not disturbing at all.  This topic comes up regularly.  I agree with Bear -- go back to LBS and explain.  It's most likely a fit issue, but could be a saddle issue.  Believe me, they've heard it before...

Oh, and I don't think you want to tip the nose down on the saddle.  Flat or slightly up is generally considered correct.  (If it's down, you'll be constantly pushing yourself back onto the saddle, among other problems.)

Also want to add that the seat that came stock with my P2 DA (Fizik Arionne Tri2) is the most comfortable nosed seat I've ever ridden. Before that I had to go to the "noseless' Adamo ISM Race to get comfort.

Ok so off to the LBS this afternoon...

I do like the saddle I expected to be far more saddle sore... Aside from the numbness I am comfortable in the Aero position...

Thanks a TON!

Should I put the nose of the saddle down? Or hit up the LBS for a "friendlier" saddle?

I gave up on the saddle that came with my Trek TTX 9.9 for the same reason. I switched to my road saddle which is thinner and lighter with almost zero padding, and the problem was resolved instantly. I wouldn't tilt my saddle nose down or you're going to be sliding forward constantly during your ride.

One of the guys I worked with over ten years ago was helping us with an exercise program.  While he was out visiting us he mentioned he was working on a new bicycle seat to take the pressure off the nerves that supply that part of your body.  He came up with some pretty good designs and sold them to specialized.  There's a lot more science in the seats than there used to be.

Everyone's bottom is a little different so you may have to go through a number of seats to get the one that works the best for you.  I agree with the sliding forward part of having the seat tilted forward.  On my indoor trainer if I have it tilted forward I have to make sure my sit bones sit firmly on the back of the seat and everything else is suspended.  My road bike's seat is starting to wear out.  I'm paranoid that I may never get a seat just like it since it works perfect.

Good luck.

Nose down = bad.  I tried that.  It actually wasn't terrible in aero, but anytime you sit up you will struggle to stay in the seat. The Selle San Marcos Tri Island or whatever that came with my P2C-sl sucks, so I have an ISM Adamo coming in to alleviate the discomfort.  I was getting more used to the terrible saddle, but it is still uncomfortable, so I'm looking forward to the upgrade.

I'm riding a Specialized BG seat, though they changed it to one smaller size than the original during the fitting. Any time I notice your problem I make sure I'm sitting far enough back on the seat that I'm supported on my sit bones. That takes some of the pressure off the nose of the saddle and then I'm fine. You can also periodically raise yourself just a little from the seat, not standing but just enough to take the weight off, and that will usually help for a bit.

How much milage have you actually put on the bike? I've found that when I change things up, I could be sore or numb when riding the bike for up to a month afterwards. The tender bits just don't seem to adjust to changes quickly (I can't believe I just used the term "tender bits").

If you have enough time to have adjusted to the change, it could be a fit or saddle issue. As Bear said, work with the dealer to resolve fit issues, and if that's OK, look at different saddles. I've been told, but have no experience, that the Fizik Arione Tri2 Carbon Braided saddle is super comfy, and very lightweight. There are also the noseless saddles that will alieviate pressure on the tender bits.

Most importantly, make sure you don't ignore the problem, it can cause serious permanent injuries if you ignore it.

I'm having the same exact problem!  I'd be interested to hear what kind of recommendations are offered by your LBS.

I know most advise against it, but I have the nose of my saddle pointed slightly down. As zomvito says above, it definately is more comfortable to me in the aero position (which I am in 95% of the time when I ride my Cervelo P2 SL). On my road bike I have the saddle level...

I have tried the saddle level on my tri bike, and it definately feels less comfortable. I haven't really had any problem sliding forward, so that is the way I ride it. Never had any problems with numbness either way though.

I've seen at least 10 of these threads since I've been a member.  I am so childish, each time I read one I hear in the back of my head, "What is your major malfunction numb-nuts?"

common problem - you may have a fit or saddle issue.  Mine went away with the cobb v-flow plus saddle.

My LBS specifically mentioned this problem when I bought my p2c. Said to come back in to try different saddle position options if I had any numbness (which I did). After a few position tweaks and a couple different saddles, I no longer have any numbness.

They did all of this free od charge, with the exception of me paying the difference between the new saddle price and the old saddle.

Dont be afraid of having your LBS get you dialed in. A new bike isnt worth squat if you cant ride it without going numb. Numbness = BAD!

I know the feeling too.  I experienced it when I first started riding my mountain bike.  Please don't get used to it man... these guys are right that you can fix it.

Fit or Saddle, good chance the saddle.  I got new P2, thie fizik seat literally hurt me (pinched some tubing).  I know some who think it's the best ride ever, but not for my body.  I changed saddles and can ride forever.  We as humans are all a little different physiologically, and thats the good thing about different saddles.

I finally hit on the right saddle for me on my Cervelo P2. A Selle SMP Stratos angled 1-2 degrees down. An Adamo Race didn't work nor did a Cobb V-Flow  or V-Flow Max (but I use one on my roadie).
