Subject: Too much sweat
Is there any way to prevent my shoes from getting soaked when I run. I was out the other night on a 10 mile training run and by about mile 7 my shoes were so wet that I squished with every step. Are there any tactics or devices that will keep the moisture out of my shoes?

What kind of socks are you using?

Is the squishiness affecting your run?  or just gross?

Not if it's really hot & humid.  You can go to a thinner sock, but eventually the shoe will still get soaked (in my experience).

put some powder in...should absorb a lot of the sweat...

I put some powder in my bike and run shoes for races so my feet go into my shoes and feel dry.

the powder soaks up the water for the swim and the sweat frm the bike.

I should say I do this to get wet feet into the shoes easier....

It's not that it's gross, I could deal with that. It's that it makes the shoes heavy and it's hurting my performance.

I could have written this post word for word. At 6.5 to 7 miles, I am soaked. For training I take an extra pair of socks in a baggie (DAMHIKT) and put it in my pocket. At 6.5 miles I stop and change them. That gives me another 3.5-4 miles then I am soaked for the rest of the run.

I wish they made sweatbands for the legs, say just below the knee. I am one of those people that looks like they fell in a pool after a long run.

That happened to me last summer. How about sweatbands on your ankles?

Try extra socks.  I'll sweat 6 pounds in 40 minutes, so I have the same issue.

Just had this issue today.  I stopped about 1:10 into the run and rung out the socks.  It's amazing how much water came out and they are expensive really thin nice socks.  It felt wonderful for the next few miles.  But i had the same problem with my shoes as well.  The get really really heavy with all the sweat.  And you do need to change socks or wring them out because eventually it might give you a blister.  i haven't figure out anything to do about the shoes though.  I was thinking about trying some of the ZOOT shoes.  I know they have holes for the water to run out in the bottom.

The problem with sweatbands is that they will eventually get saturated too. Then the water will drip into your shoes anyway. Plus they will get heavy too. I like the changing socks idea but I don't know if that would work in an actual event.

Antiperspirant on your feet and taller socks.
