Ok, so I have been practicing my nutrition on my long rides.  I use Infinit and take in around 200-250ish calories per hour.  I back off in the last 20 - 30 minutes to prepare for my run (I typically do a 30 minute brick after my long rides).  I statred doing this based on an article I read about avoidinig the bike to run bonk (which really deals with over doing it nutrition wise on the bike and getting stomach distress on the run).

The Infinit has been great and I am NOT hungry (which is huge for me!) when I get off the bike.  So, given that -- at what point in the run do I start taking nutrition?  Thanks!

I generally start the gels about 15 minutes into my run.  I want my belly to empty, but not all the way.  Try right out of the shoot, 15 mins, and 30 mins to see what works best for you.  Unless your stomach is full or upset, I wouldn't wait untill 45+ minutes into the run.

I do 20' intervals for eating both on run and bike. I start 20' off the bike. Trying different things in training is best way to find out what works or doesn't work for you.

Thanks!  I am definitely trying different things in training, which is why I was asking for a starting point for when to start taking nutrition on the run -- just looking for a starting place and then I can tweak from there.

I also appreciate that this strategy is different for different race distances and by person, but just wanted to see what you all thought.

Thanks again!

another good guage is begin taking nutrition in on the bike once your HR settles down from T2 otherwise that nutrition may just stay in your stomach and/or cause distress. in an IM race, it typically takes me about 15-30min for my HR to come down to normal running BPMs.

At the first aid station.  As long as I feel good, I try to take something at each aid station.  Mostly just water or Gatorade (or, eventually, cola).  A gel maybe every 10k (or until I cn't stand them anymore ).

I use the aid stations as well but, like JK says, by that time I'm going by feel and letting my body tell me how much is enough.
