Pre-race routine:

OK, I wanted to do the Garden of the Gods race, a five miler but on Saturdays I do a group ride with the LBS and it's usually my long ride and since I suck on bike I decided to skip the race at GOG. On Friday night I decided that I could do the Neilsen Challenge before the bike ride since it's shorter only two miles and I could still make it to the LBS in time for the ride.
Event warmup:

Rushing out of the house, packing a bag and making sure I made it to the race start on time.

Comments:

OK, I started doing this race back in March when I first started running. In fact it was the first run race I've ever did. Basically they hold the race the first saturday of each month. It's a handicapped race and the winner is the person who beats his or her handicap by the greated amount of time. The first time I ran this race it took me 29:14 min. I couldn't even run the entire way.
Flash forward to today. This was my BEST run race EVER! I actually ran. No shuffle, no dragging the feet. I actually ran. I started off a at a good pace. Faster than I have ever run in a run race. I don't run fast on runs cause I'm always worried I will run out of gas. But felt good throught he first mile. My first mile was 12:01. The fastest first mile I've ever had in that race. The last time I ran it my first mile was 13 min. I just kept it steady. Usually when I run even though I stay in the back people always pass me. Well not this time. And when I was passed by some lady with one blue and one purple sock about 1/4 from the finish. I said screw that I'm not going to let some off color, sock-wearing grandmom beat me. I kicked it in a gear I didn't know I had. Just kicked it up and ending up finishing with my best time ever. Woo Hoo.
What would you do differently?:

Kick it up more in the end.
Post race
Warm down:

Hopped in the car and then did a 23 mile bike ride ALL HILLS. My freakin' legs hurt!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My slow ass.

Event comments:

My best race ever! Woo Hoo. I LOVE RUNNING!
