Pre-race routine:

A couple slices of cold pizza and a glass of apple juice to clear the cobwebs. Banana after setting up transition.

Walked around transition. Talked to a bunch of people. Walked the first 1/4 mile of the run w/ Evondo and scoped out the swim start.
Event warmup:

They moved the swim start to the opposite side of the lake. Didn't feel like walking around so I just swam across with Houstonrider.
Swim
  • 12m 11s
  • 482 meters
  • 02m 32s / 100 meters
Comments:

minimal swim training the past 5 weeks showed. started inside front. my only swim goal was to get hit and enjoy it. it got physical and man was it fun! good stuff! siting was very good as i hugged the guide buoy line the entire time.
What would you do differently?:

nada.
Transition 1
  • 01m 49s
Comments:

good transition. but could be faster. of course i was checking out the bikes to see who was still in the water.
What would you do differently?:

no socks.
Bike
  • 46m 21s
  • 14 miles
  • 18.12 mile/hr
Comments:

stayed out on the bars the entire time. good. not liking the cobb vflow saddle.

i had a hard time finding a comfortable gear.

dead dog on side road. very sad.

two guys passed me drafting. for some reason this tweaked me. i let them know what i thought of it and the guy behind dropped back.
What would you do differently?:

ride more.
Transition 2
  • 00m 59s
Comments:

Run
  • 33m 51s
  • 3.28 miles
  • 10m 19s  min/mile
Comments:

this is where doing not much since bslt showed. i had nothing here. never walked but very slow. it was weird because i wanted to go a little faster but my legs dictated the pace. bastards!
What would you do differently?:

run more.
Post race
Warm down:

forgot jelly belly's (shame on me) so just drank beer. Awesome group of BT er's and HRTC.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

i haven't done squat since bslt.

Event comments:

GREAT RACE!

*sarc* Warm beer is warm. It only gets cold if you put ice on it. You need to ice beer before the race starts in order for it to be cold when we finish. If you put ice on the beer after the race some people might not be happy.

edit. thankfully, one smart Marine and his wife volunteered and brought a cooler full of ICE COLD BEER!

Yeah, cold beer usually tastes better on a hot day!    Nice job John - way to rock those transitions!  Sounds like a good time with all the other BT'ers out there!

Good job, John!  Sounds like you had lots of fun.  Don't worry, your legs will come back any day now...they are still pi$$ed at you for making them run up all of those hills at Buffalo Springs!

I always love your reports, some good tongue-in-cheek humor. Nice job on the race! Cold pizza as your breakfast?  Is that a joke? I hope????

I can detect some interest here.  John, I think you almost got her thinking.  I can see Suzy changing her plan for the HIM to pizza for breakfast and beer to replace the Perpetuum sp? on the bike.

Good Race!

Good job on your race despite the lack of training.

Sounds like you met all your "goals".

BTW, I agree: Cold pizza is good but warm beer sucks.

See y'all at a race down the road.

Glad you had a good race! : ) The beer would have been cold, we planned on icing it starting at 8:00am but had a VERY VERY serious medical emergency that happened in the pool area that closed the pool for over an hour and required an ambulance to help the person get out to a hospital. Unfortunately by that time the ice we had for the beer was needed for a couple other emergencies and wasn't top on our priority. We went out and bought 500 more pounds of ice for the beer and other drinks asap and within 20 minutes of the warm beer being out it was on ice and getting cold. Other than the beer it sounded like you had a great time. We're glad and hope you continue to do our races. Thanks for the feedback, it always is good and helps us grow as directors. Just thought I should explain what happended. Thanks for your support.Aaron
