What would you do differently?:

maybe not wear a wet suit...not sure.

Took my time. I didn't want to rush.
What would you do differently?:

Kick the girls stuff next to me OFF my area...in stead I moved it back to her area nicely...

Slow....the motorcycle rode with me the last half of the second loop. He played some nice music for me......

What would you do differently?:

HILL REPEATS!!
Transition 2

Comments:

Took a Snickers bar with. Used a fuel belt and put running shorts over my biking tri shorts. I dont like to run in those.
Run
  • 2h 49m 5s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 12m 55s  min/mile
Comments:

Since I was last for the first loop the race official on the Mt Bike followed me for 2 miles until I caught the next guy. Then he followed him.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

HIlls. The race advertisment was very decieving.

Event comments:

I am rating this race a 2 because when I came into the finish line they had taken the clock down.... They KNEW there were people out there because the last guy was being followed by the official on the Mt Bike who was radioing to the finish line....they knew we were out there.

I finished...I AM a Half Iron Woman....70.3 is a big deal and I was heartbroken when I came into the shoot with NO TIMER because they wanted to pack up and go home.

I grabbed a sub sandwich and went to transition to text my husband in Afghanistan who waited up for me to finish (thanks you honey!) and the clean-up crew asked me to move my bike so they could take down the racks....I mean really!!! give me two seconds to get back to my stuff.
Very disappointing.

Wow, girl, sorry about the clock thing - if there were only 5 women in your AG (and that's a competitive AG, usually a big one), it doesn't sound like a really big race at all. Maybe the race directors aren't on the up and up yet. Great job, though!!!

Congratulations on the first HIM!

Sux that they were rushing you.   You should have told them that Butch would kick their butts.

Have to agree with you about the race folks. No signs to find the place, no lights in the lots, no portajohns to be seen -- I was left wondering how they spent my registration fee.

And then just prior to the race, he announced we would start later -- in 10 minutes, and then within a minute, said no, we'd start on-time in a minute and a half. For a group that holds so many races, I was surprised at how lackadaisical they were.

But enough of that.

I saw you on the course and you looked strong. Congratulations on a great 1/2 Ironman!

Congrats!  You did something I am way too chicken to try.  I am impressed.  Those smaller races are rough - it sucks to be doing your best but feeling rushed.  Great job passing the guy on the run!
