Run
Comments: Ran strong. I could have ran a faster pace but I had trouble with my footing. As it was, I rolled my ankle 4 or 5 times. Yikes. Worse though, I was nipping at the heels of another runner for much of the closing 2 miles. We were going about the same pace so I really couldn't pass him, but I was so close behind him that I had trouble navigating the trail. I did catch him once we exited the forest. :) What would you do differently?: Not much. I felt solid! Transition 1
Comments: HUM. The race website doesn't list T1 and T2 times. I had noticed during the race that there was only one timing pad. HMMMM. What would you do differently?: I suck in transitions. :) Bike
Comments: OUCH. I suck at biking. EVERYONE passed me on the bike and I passed NO ONE. My freakin' chain popped off when I shifted into the big gear at mile 3. I had to pull over and pop it back in...DNF crossed my mind, but it fell back into place rather fast. I could tell that I've improved on the bike though. :) So, yeah, I'm disappointed, but improvement is happening - just not as fast I would like!! Plus, I've never biked better than I am now. Heck, I actually used the big chain ring for the race! ;) What would you do differently?: Transition 2
Run
Comments: Ran well, and reeled in 13 competitors. I would have caught another 6 or so but I ran out of time. Damn bikers! I SO wanted to run faster - and I did have the energy to give - but I couldn't because of the footing. What would you do differently?: Not much. Post race
Warm down: Walked around, talked to my sister, saw Dwayne finish. Wasn't all that tired. What limited your ability to perform faster: The bike! The cadences of the racers that passed were UNBELIEVABLE. Easily twice my own. Yikes. I was using rat cages... however, once I got home I pulled the trigger and ordered clips/pedals, cleats and shoes. Hopefully this will help!! There were a TON of fast people at this race (the main sponsor was BIKESPORT). A TON of people were low 6's on BOTH runs. I won't mentiont the bike again... ;) If I had posted an OK bike split I would have gone top 10 in my AG. But, I'm getting better and Du's aren't my forte. :) My second run split/place for this race and Willow has me VERY confident for tri season though!! Event comments: The lack of timing pads and transition times are troubling. Plus the race coordinators offered NO race day sign up! Last updated: 2005-05-23 12:00 AM

I stayed with my sister who only lives 10 minutes from the course. :) Ate a cliff bar on the way.
Arrived on site at 6:30. Picked up my chip and got marked, set up my transition area, did 1/2 mile run. Found Jean (Rennick) and her hubby Dwayne 10 minutes prior to start!
