I've got an issue with the concept of getting chicked...I mean, for god's sakes there are Olympic medalists out there on the course. Of course they're going to pass some dudes.

I speak as a male...I pray for the day when women started getting "guyed". We all need to get over ourselves.

I just invented another term...

"Geezed"  def. ~ Getting overtaken by a person who is obviously two or more AG older

What about this one?

"AG-ed" def. ~ Getting overtaken by an age grouper

I meant no offense, I actually think that it is great that women (ok Chrissie) is so strong that she can finish top 10 Overall in almost any race.  I cannot wait until she wins one!

Or getting "FISHED", over taken by a grouper.

I know that there's no harm intended. It just blows my mind that these guys that are announcing keep using the word when it's effing Chrissie Wellington passing them. Or Michelie.

I think it is relevant because it is been shown over the years in general men are superior endurance athletes physiologically speaking at the IM distance and the time difference are 30+ min. What Chrissie is doing so far is very impressive...

That's why I'm saying that it's demeaning to use a term like that when it's Chrissie.

Plus there's been talk for almost 20 years that women are progressing at a faster pace than men, in regards to endurance sports.

Regardless, go Chrissie! I think I may have just overheard that Chrissie will have a 30-40 minute lead off the bike. Is that even possible??

How about "I just got Welled". I'd be psyched to have her pass me!

Haha, if I was fast enough to be in front of Chrissie at any point, I'd be just fine watching her fly by me.

Ummm, Chrissie is only 16 minutes behind Lieto, who is leading the race.

I guess she don't need no coach!

Demeaning to who?  I wouldn't presume it's demeaning to her as I would venture a guess that in her mind she's starting to review her races in relation to the men at some level anyhow.

I will never be considered fast in the sport of triathlon.  However, skiing is another story.  More than once I've been at the top of a challenging run and overheard comments from guys near me about how I might not be able to handle it or how superior they are.  I take great pleasure in letting them get their head start then "chicking" them a bit later when I go flying by them. I love the double takes they do when that happens.

Our society in general holds the view that men are superior to women in sports (and I'm not necessarily disagreeing) but it means that women work harder to even the playing field and I know that my expert skier friends and I all take great pleasure when we get a chance to prove our abilities.  Especially to those that like to talk smack.  :p

I'll never be in front of her and I know it.

At Timberman I did get a chance to say, "It's going to be a pleasure to have you kick my today" in the transition area

There always the chance of one of the mixed up wave start races where pro's don't go first. Don't give up hope!

How about this take for getting 'geezed'.
Next race I'm in and I get passed by some young stud, I'm gonna yell "Dude! You just geezed me!"
...he would have passed a geezer

Last ultramarathon I ran I got 'blinded'....a blind runner passed me! Female ultrarunners have long been breaking down that gender/time barrier - anyone know about Ann Trason? She won a bunch of ultras outright

I was running a 5K a couple of months back and there was a lady with a baby stroller with a baby in it caught me half way through it. I was very impressed with here running ability. My wife went with me and she got a chuckle out of it. I think she finished 5th overall. There are a lot of women out there that can smoke a Tri.

when i did lake stevens 70.3 in August - I was about 48 miles into the bike course, and doing pretty decent, i'm guessing on the flats i was pushing 21 or so mph - well this guy who was 68 passed me and we played cat and mouse for a few miles. . i think he was only on his first lap though   I was VERY impressed by the speed he was holding.  I am 23, for reference - made me feel SLOW!  i did end up passing him and never seeing him again though

Yes Ann is a legend.

My understanding was that male and female performance get much closer the more endurance and pain are involved. Triathlon ia a bit different because of the bike leg and the leg strength involved, especially on a hilly course.

I think we will see more improvement in the womans Tri times in all categories over the next few years especially in the full Ironman distance, some limitations are purely mental.
