Pre-race routine:

Got up. Ate some toast. Drove to race. Registered. Walked around complaining about how sore our legs were from yesterday. Stretched a bit.
Event warmup:

A teeny bit of stretching.
Run
  • 53m 40s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 08m 40s  min/mile
Comments:

I didn't mean to go fast. It just happened. I'm so darn competitive.
What would you do differently?:

Stick to the plan. I really meant to run a nice easy 10k and just started going fast...maybe because my legs hurt and I wanted to be done :)
Post race
Warm down:

Walked back to the car which was about 15+ minutes.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Uh...the 11 miles I hauled through the day before :)

Event comments:

Great race. Last minute decision. Like at 7 am when I got out of bed! I was visiting a friend in Minnesota and he is in the National Guard so he thought he should do the National Guard appreciation run. Go figure. My legs REALLY hurt from the 11 the day before. But, as I said earlier...I really wanted to get done so I tried to book it a little. Very nice small race...well organized...lots of food, etc. Looked like there was gonna be a big party afterwards, but I had to go catch a plane. They had a live video feed from Iraq where the host National Guard unit had personnel deployed. They were running a 10k too :) So we were watching them finish half a world away!

Updated on 7 June when the results were FINALLY posted :)

Good race. Except for your soreness, sounds like you had fun. Very consistent time splits. This is something I need to work on myself. Congrats.
