For those of you familiar w/it,

(1) Does it usually max out, registration-wise?

(2) Would you consider it a "qualifying-friendly" course (e.g., cool weather, flat so fast, low crowd, ect.)

(3) Any other interesting thought?

1) Yes, it does.

2) People often do think of it that way, the course is almost entirely flat - there is a very minor bridge you run over and back over, and I do mean minor.  Otherwise it is a great flat surface 99% of the time.  Crowd is low for 95% of the race, obviously some congestion early on and then the final stretch on the boardwalk is somewhat limited, but would not impede someone that was finishing early enough to BQ - once the 4:00 packs start rolling in there can be some backup.

3) GREAT event setup.  I was there last year both for the 8k and 13.1 and both were very, very well run.  People enjoy it, the weather is usually cool at start but warms up to a nice race temp - see a lot of discarded long-sleeves for the 26.2 runners.

Good luck if you sign up - I'm thinking about doing the half, but possibly the full depending on what else I pick for my season... which I am agonizing over right now.

Registration filled in Jan..

big race.. Its a Boston Qualifying course.. some tons of people.. It spreads out pretty fast thought, no worries.

Overall, great race, tons of support (except for missing gu station last time) there are also people handing out beer.. somewhere around mile 5.. i think it was.. great party afterwards.. and good stuff in goodie bag.. I was so happy to get that granola bar..

I ve registrated for the full mary this upcoming year..

The half marathon has sold out in January for the past few years, but I don't think that the full sells out.  If it does, it's not until right before.

I think it's a great race - one of my favorites.  Very well done and a great course.  My only complaint is that the hotels now require 2 night minimums.

Yeah, the half will sell out; I don't think the full has ever sold out.

I wish they allowed transfers, as I have a bib for the half that I now won't be able to use And it's a whole lot of money to go down to do a less-than-stellar 8K time (since I won't be quite up to speed by then) - esp. as Jen said, with the 2-night minimum at the hotels.

Indeed that is not good that you can't use it!  Especially since it will sell out and someone else would gladly want it.

Oh well!  Good luck healing!

Hubby (butchcantswim) and I just signed up. He is running the Full and actually taking it serisously. A few girls and I are running the half and drinking beer the whole way with our green wigs and shamrock kilts!

ENJOY!

I'd love to meet you!   I have a full mary 3 weeks before shamrock so I'm doing the half just for fun.  I want to drink beer the whole way too!   I'd love to join you gals... I'll look for the wigs and kilts.

(At what mile do they start handing out the beer?

Shamrock is my favorite race of the year.

Originally signed up for the full, but dropped down to the half after getting hurt running Richmond last November.

I've got a few friends running their first full this year, so I'm planning on hanging out for awhile, sucking down a few beers waiting on them to finish.
