Subject: RE: Yuengling Shamrock MarathonPorfirio - 2009-11-30 9:02 AM For those of you familiar w/it,
(1) Does it usually max out, registration-wise?
(2) Would you consider it a "qualifying-friendly" course (e.g., cool weather, flat so fast, low crowd, ect.)
(3) Any other interesting thought?
1 ) Yes, it does. 2 ) People often do think of it that way, the course is almost entirely flat - there is a very minor bridge you run over and back over, and I do mean minor. Otherwise it is a great flat surface 99% of the time. Crowd is low for 95% of the race, obviously some congestion early on and then the final stretch on the boardwalk is somewhat limited, but would not impede someone that was finishing early enough to BQ - once the 4:00 packs start rolling in there can be some backup. 3 ) GREAT event setup. I was there last year both for the 8k and 13.1 and both were very, very well run. People enjoy it, the weather is usually cool at start but warms up to a nice race temp - see a lot of discarded long-sleeves for the 26.2 runners. Good luck if you sign up - I'm thinking about doing the half, but possibly the full depending on what else I pick for my season... which I am agonizing over right now. |
