Hi Enrique.  Looks like we're both trekking all the way across the country to do this one.  Should be fun!

I did the Goofy Challenge this year. Don't go into the race trying to do a personal best. The course is crowded for the first couple of miles. Great spectator support. When you go into the Magic Kingdom the roar from the crowd is incredible.

Sweet!  I can't wait.  Yeah, I'm not expecting a PR or anthing close.  Just want to finish it and have enough left to visit the parks with my family after.

Disney is a really fun event. For those of you coming from out of state be prepared for anything. The year I did it it was very hot. Last year it snowed during the half and was freezing for the Marathon. There are also a more hills than it looks like. Nothing big just lots of little rollers and some of the roads have a little slope to them. Have fun . It is worth it to stay on site at Disney.

Wife and I will be there also, doing the Goofy challenge.

Plan on bringing clothes for all occasions from reading race reports over the last few years.

Probably the 5k as well.  LOL, then going to the parks on Monday...

I was going to do the 5K also which some unofficially call the "Dopey" Chalenge, but I wasn't going to be able to make it fit our schedule.  It looks like there will be several BTers representing!

I saw that.  Unfortunately, our plans are to be at the parks the days before the races and on Monday we are leaving.  Can't change our plans now. Too bad, but good for those of you who can take advantage of it.

OK....so the big day is right around the corner.

Finished my last "longer" run today (12miles). Funny that it hardly seems long anymore compared to a 20+miler.

Need to get my mind ready, that is where the real race occurs for me.

Goals = finish upright < finish without walking < break 4hrs.

Hope everyone's race goes well.

yeah, coming up soon!  I did a 50K ultra last weekend.  I figure that should be good enough to get me through Goofy's Challenge.  It's all just for fun for me.  Good luck to everyone!

Good luck next weekend.  I've done the Dopey Challenge the last few years.  Ran in the snow last year   For a Florida boy that was tough!

The whole race scene is a whole lo of fun.  Take your time and enjoy it.

What's the Dopey Challenge?

Dopey Challenge is 5k Friday, Half Marathon Saturday & the Marathon Sunday.  "Dopey Challenge" is the unofficial name; unlike "Goofy Challenge" which Disney endorses.  If Disney packaged and official "Dopey Challenge" they'd could make some money off it, so I'm surprised they haven't as of yet!

LOL, life is conspiring to make this fun run not so fun.

Last week Bronchitis, this week runners knee flare up.

From those that have done these races before any tips for getting to the start line?  Is it a huge hassle or rather easy?

I think you're totally right that it's a missed marketing opportunity.  If there had been a Dopey Challenge (or had I known there was a 5K), I would have signed up for it for sure.

A costume is a neat idea. I may do this too.

accuweather.com says 68F for Sunday.  looks like the possible rain is coming in before the weekend, but will be cooler on sat.  noaa.gov says the same.

Ha, good question Enrique.  I hadn't thought about it, but it seems like as good a race as any to wear a costume.  Not sure if I can pull something together in time, but I'll definitely have to give this some thought. Smile

Hope everyone had a great race - especially you folks that did the Goofy. Dont think I ran into any other BTers on the course, but hard to say with estimated 17,000+ entrants.

Perfect weather for a marathon (from what I hear...this was my first). Disney can organize a pretty good event and put on a terrific show. This one didn't dissapoint me and everything was just as I heard.

Race report will have to wait.........I have to let the wings from ESPN Zone at the Boardwalk settle, then theres the ice bath and onto the carb replentishing (of the hydraulic variety).

Have fun at the parks tomorrow for those who are staying.
