I see there are a good handful of us racing this one.

It's my first HIM, so hopefully I'll live through it.  Good luck with your training to everyone that's racing too!

Hey all.  Like Daniel said, there is some good discussion about the course over in the Full Distance B2B thread, and a bunch of of others doing the Half chatting as well.

So it can be helpful to read through their stuff.

For how many of you will this be your first 70.3 race?

This will be my second 70.3.  I just did my first at White Lake in record breaking heat (Ughhh!)

I'm excited to do B2B because the setup is so interesting (and complicated!).

I went as a spectator last fall.  As ya'll probably know, there are two different transition areas, plus the swim starts at yet another location.  Once you get to the finish line, you have to find a way back to your car on the other side of the channel.

I'll be glad to do this race in the cooler weather, but with it being a week later than last year, I hope it isn't TOO cold!

I did the B2B half  in a relay team last year ( I did the swim) and it is  a fast swim. I had a good time. I am not going lie the morning was cold and my feet and arms did go numb during  the swim( wore a sleveeless wetsuit) but on the plus side when running to T1 you cannot feel the concert or ashphalt. I am doing the 140.6 B2B on a relay again and doing the swim and wearing a full wetsuit this time around.

My husband and I are in the the half.  This will be our third at this distance.

The race, itself, looks excellent and I've loved everything that I've read about it.  However, what I'm really looking forward to is the weather.  I seldom ever get to race in a climate that is even remotely cool, so I'm anxious to see how it will impact my performance.

I'm over on the FULL thread as well.  Lots of good info there so far.

I'm in for the half, and it's my first 70.3 ever. I've done 3 sprints so far, and have a year full of sprints and olys until November. Looking forward to chatting with you all about the quick swim and flat riding!

Wow I did not know there was a HIM thread, but now I do. I just signed up for the HIM. I did it last year as my 3rd race and 1st HIM and thi syear it will be my 2nd HIM. Will be interesting to see how I can stack up to last year.
I thought it was a great race and setup and Wilmington did a great job. I wil be more than happy to try and answer any questions (from my point of view having done the race) about temps and logistics of the race or anything else that I might be able to help with. Good luck to all.

What training plan will ya'll be using?

I used the BT Beginner HIM plan last time with a few of my own tweeks.  I thought it was a little heavy on the swim and light on the bike and run, but I truly did enjoy using it.

I may want something a little more advanced this time.  But the BT Intermediate HIM plan may be too advanced for me considering the very first swim is 4750 yds.  Mercy!

I sort of winged it last year. This year I plan on being a little more focused  and hopefully structured in my training. That all being said, I will make up my own plan.
I am going to try do a solid Olympic distance at White Lake in early Sept and then that will leave me 9 weeks to get in a little more volume for B2B.

I'm still undecided about the White Lake Oly.  I'll be out of town the week before and have the 2 mile Pier-2-Pier ocean swim the week after.  I may just do the Dash for Divas at White Lake.  Or I may get a wild hair and do both the Oly and the Dash.

But I'm definitely on for the Pinehurst Oly this year.

We certainly are neighbors.  I've even got some of your mail and had to take it over and put it in your mailbox.  (I'm a 204 as well

You're WAY WAY WAY faster than me though.  So unless you want a power walk, or are doing 1 leg biking, I'm not a great workout person for you.  I'm pretty sure you swim faster than I run.  *instert sad sound here*

Chad, you are making me cry.

I'm in for the full. I was toying with the idea, then realized HEH len was doing the half, then I was 99% in, but you ... it's 110%.

I'm there, baby. I would even sherpa for you but I'll kinda be occupied

I'm really, really, really honored to be there for your first half, though.

Holy Yanti-goodness.  I'm not sure if Wilmington will be able to handle this crew.  I'd better warn my mum and see if she can prepare the city.

Here is my swim   start for the  B2B HIM. I was on a  relay team and did the swim part. I am the 3rd guy from the guy who closest to the camera and my team mate screaming my name (Martin). This I am swimming on the far left cause the current is stronger and on the same side as the turning yacht.

Cool video Martin.  I was at the swim start as a spectator last year; I may have seen you without even knowing it was you!
