Can't believe I am watching a live news conference about a lake in AZ, but I am and the guy just said he expects the water to be at normal levels and back open to normal events by Nov 1st.   He specifically mentioned IMAZ.  Let's hope so.

Anyone ever remodeled their house and gotten a contractor's time estimate?    Good luck WTC......

But it's government officials giving the estimates... they are much more accurate than the private sector.

if it's 3' in the middle, we could just do a time trial start and swim out and back.

They said 90 days to fix, 2 weeks to fill. It's going to be close. We'll see how motivated and profitable IMAZ is to Tempe now.

Just the loss to the hotels would be devastating, let alone the local restaurants.  I really hope they fix it for personal reasons obviously, but also from economy standpoint for the local businesses there.  I figure I'm not the only one that was planning to be there for an entire week.

Well, it allows for them to release water to the easy side of the lake into the dry river bed, which they do from time to time. The rubber bladders can be deflated in a more controlled manner than this!

Sounds like someone has a dam bladder control problem?

A little expertise from Bryan.  I just looked at a map of the lake on Googe earth.  To me, it looked landlocked.  Where will they fill it from?

There are lakes upstream (more dams) connected by the Salt River. Most of the reservoirs are at capacity. They will release more water, and the lake will fill in 2 weeks.

If you look to the northeast on your map, the Salt River has a series of lakes/dams that can release water.  They open up the gates and the water flows into Tempe Town Lake.

I guess I'm just a glass half full kinda guy but I think the fishing downstream just took a turn for the better.  Woot!

Bass, catfish and yeah baby... they even stock it with trout.  The next several weeks should be fun for the locals.

Looks like Soma probably just lost a couple registrations, unfortunately.  Red Rock's loss and probably the "Magic Mountain Man" HIM's gain in our case.  Too bad...this was gonna be a chance for my wife to get a feel for the swim and run courses while she decides whether or not to pull the trigger on IMAZ 2011.

Yeah, those river beds are bone dry right now but they can release water from lake Saguaro and make a nice river in no time. The Lake is about 25 miles to the Northeast.

Honestly, there's really no getting the feel of IMAZ.  Swim is just like a swim on a flat Pacific day (same temps even), and run is on a bike path.  Other than itbeing drier than where we live, it's about as adaptable a race course as you can find.

In any event, as I recall there is a 2.4 mile swim a week or 2 before IMAZ.  You guys can always take a quick trip out and swim and run the course then....

But that switch from SOMA to Magic Mountain Man.... is like switching from IMAZ to IM St George!

Yeah, except it saves us the 6 hour drive, the hotel, the restaurant food, the packing, etc., etc.
