Does anyone have recommendations for bike stores in the area?  I'll have a little extra $$$ and am looking to by a new tri bike.  Also, when do the stores usually start to clear out their 2010 merchandise?

Neworld Cycle in Burlington is a pretty good shop.  Carry Cervelo, Trek and Cannondale and they even have the new Trek Speed Concept in if you feel like going nuts

My Favorites:
1. Wheels of Bloor (on Bloor just west of High Park): good selection including lots of Tri bikes (Cervelo dealer, Look, Ridley,Argon18, Felt, Jamis). Very knowlagable team of hard-core riders.
2. Cyclepath Oakville: Friendly and good service. Limited Tri bikes (Trek)
3. New World (Burlington): Big store with good selection (Cervelo dealer

I bought my 2009 Cervelo P2 at Wheels of Bloor last October - end of season sale for $2,500. They also had the Argon E112 for the same price and Felt B12 for $2,600 - these were all good deals at the time.

If you know what you want and are willing to wait there are usually great deals at the fall bike show at the Exhibition in Toronto.  It's just one day in October but my fiance hates to miss it - he got his QR tri bike there a few years ago and I got my road bike. All the major bike shops are there and there are other good deals.

Get there early though, it gets crowded and the best deals go early.

Thanks for the responses.  I didn't even know about the Fall bike show.  I think I will definitely have to check it out.  How early should I get there?

If I go this year I plan to be there at least an hour before they open (and even then I doubt I'll be at the front of the line).

Ouch...Looking at the 2009 Fall Show pics & that line up, my time is more valuable than that.  Standing in line for 1-2 hrs is not my thing.

The line moves very fast once the doors open.  I've been twice and both times arrived just as the doors were opening. We weren't in line for more 20 mins either time.  It's good to be early if you're looking for something specific.  It does get crowded inside.  If you get there much later i can't say how long the wait is.

I looked at a 2009 P2 last fall and didn't buy one.  I got one at my LBS in the spring for the same price.  It is a little hit and miss as on the other hand I could have gotten a Trek Madone 5.2 Pro w/Ultegra for $2200.

There are great clothing deals and tons of selection if you are a Male size S or XL

Hard to beat Neworld Cycle. They gave me a great deal on a Cervelo P2 and a few extras along with it. Their runnning store right next door ain't to bad either.

I've found new world to be anywhere from 10-20% more expensive than other stores in the area for accessories, apparel, computers...and on more than one occasion have had some pretty poor customer service. I had 3 kids with me when I was inquiring about a tri bike and got brushed off...so I spent my $3500 at another shop. Maybe just an isolated incident. New world runners on the other hand is top notch with pricing, inventory and service!

I can't argue with the fact that their accessories and computers can be a little pricey. In terms of service they've always been good with me. Maybe you caught them on a bad day?

I've never had a problem there but I will go further and say that Joe on the runners side is a step above the rest.

Agree things are a bit pricier but compared to what else there is local (I'm in Burlington) it is the best shop around.  Brandt Cycle is atrocious.
