Here we are at the end of summer.  Aug 30th.  I look out the window at work and decide to take a run because work was not crazy today.  I get outside and its 89 degrees and Humid. Yuck..  I take my 40 min run anyways.  Make it back to work and feel like I was in a fight with an oven...

feel better now after a cold shower but I honestly cannot wait for the fall and YES winter.... Really hot summer here in the NE..

At least in the winter when its 20 out I have no illusions of training outside...

Anyone else dislikes the heat?

I live in very hot and humid conditions.... I sweat a LOT when I run... I would rather run in 20 degrees than 80's.  This sundat at a duathlon I sweat so much that the number on my bike disentegrated..... I feel your pain

Why wouldn't you train outside in 20 degrees?  That's fabulous running weather!  Yes, I dislike the heat and have had some issues in my training because of it but I deal with it dreaming of brisk, snowy runs.  With the right layers you can be just as comfortable as you are in fall temps.

Nope.  I love the heat.  Will take a day in the 90s over a day in the 40s any day!

I'd rather train in 20 degrees with snow and ice than 89 degrees and humid.... for a run anyway.  Not so much on the bike.

You kidding.. A day in the 40 is absolutely perfect.  Great fgor everything, except perhaps for swimming.  When you done training you can go out with sweats and a hoody and have a beer.  Its just perfect weather for me...  perhaps a light hat... YES....

Not at all! I love the heat! Low to mid 80's is perfect, especially for riding. Though, to be fair, I live in a not-so-humid area...

Love the summertime!  Love to run in the heat! The humidity makes for not so fun times but I would still rather have summer weather as opposed to winter. But I live in the South and am used to hot summers.

I am with you on the heat/humidity. I too, live in NE
To all those that like to run in the heat, I don't mind that either, but add in so much humidity that you can hardly breath. That changes the whole heat thing.
As with the OP, I have no desire to run in 20 weather, but hey, to each his/her own.

x2!   Outside of running a marathon, I prefer the heat.   Yes it is hot and humid, but as long as you prepare well, have the right (slow) expectations, there should be no worries.  Same for water temps.   I think 85 is perfect and anything below 75 is not eagerly pursued

Nope, I love the HOT weather.

I have a saying I don't mind the cold unless it gets below 80.

It's really not the heat that bothers me that much.  I've run in triple digits and felt better than when running in the eighties.  It's that 100% humidity, no matter how hot it is, that drains me.  I've walked outside in the morning and said screw it many, many times this year.

If I ruled out training when it's hot and humid or when it's wintry...I'd never get anything done...except for those two, brief week-long intervals we call "spring" and "fall". It's always either winter or summer here.

Always have to laugh at New Englanders complaining about heat when it's still in the 80s! We call that a cool spell in august.

I live in Colorado.  We have snow and ice here too.  My only rule about that is I don't run in the dark when it's icy.  Otherwise it's fair game.  In fact, I remember a storm last year running though ankle to shin deep wet snow, about 15-20 degrees out.  I heard later that one of my running club members saw me out and nearly stopped to pick me up.  Its a good thing he didn't because I was having so much fun! My feet were soaked (thank goodness for wool socks), I was way over dressed (should have just had one technical long sleeve hoodie on and an ear band) so I was hot and sweaty but man, that is probably in the top 5 of favorite runs in last year.  Number one was a light snow, around 20 degrees, leaves still on the trees and running around a lake with steam coming off the lake.

Basically, you've got to let go of the weather limitations if you're going to enjoy training.  Learn what you need to do to deal with it and then go out and enjoy.

Yea, it sucks, I live in Pensacola FL, I've been training for my first HIM all summer.  The good news though is that the race is a few hundred miles north in late Sept., so hopefully the fact that I've trained in this stuff all summer will help me finish the race.

Ha! I saw your response before looking at your location and thought must live in MN.  13 years was enough for me.  Back in New England but a little too hot here in RI for my tastes.  A crisp 20 degree run would be heaven right now!!!

Prior to getting mixed up with this tri training (1st race in 2 weeks!) I LOVED the HOT AND HUMID weather. I actually still do....just not when I'm trying to get a run in or a ride for that matter. I HATE the cold very much so we will see how things go this fall with running...I can't say that I would run in the winter but COSkiGirl painted a very pretty picture of running in the snow...so...who knows?
