My boyfriend has decided to name his bike Jennifer and his car Mandy. I casually call my car Barry and my bike Bluebarry (cus' it got blue frame).

Yes, we are quite dorky.

What about you?

You're not dorky.

My car's name is Clara, my bike's name is Fergie (it's an old, slow MTB).

Named my bike Gertrudis, after the character in Like Water for Chocolate.

My son asked me to name my new bike, Connie, after my mother. I think I will.

My bike's name is Apollo...
Wanna know how Apollo got his name? My sister said I put way too much thought into this. You see, my first road bike I ever bought was from a guy by the name of Michael Reilly so I named the bike Reilly in his honor. I had bought the bike in August of 2001. Well, in February of 2002, my teammate and I were on a training ride on campus. We were on mile 13 of our ride when I was hit by a car. I was fine (well, no borken bones...I was pretty banged up), the bike was not...it was just awful. I kept screaming, "My bike, my bike!! I had a few explitives for the guy who hit me (and get this, he was a professor, shame on him!) My teammate kept trying to tell me that it was okay that it was just the seat, but I knew better. I could see it out of the corner of my eye as I was face planted in the ground. Anyways, I got the insurance settlement and was able to get the exact same model, but better wheels, headset, etc. So, I named the bike Apollo after Apollo 13 "the successful failure" because I was hit on the 13th mile, and while my bike was destroyed, I eneded up with an even better bike (and even had enough money for another frame and fork to put the components from my old bike on it). So yes, I thought about it way too much, what can I say...I'm a dork...no wait, I'm a geek!

Truck is Ol' Bill - like the horse - very reliable

Bike is Mikaela - like the Mikaela I once knew - sleek, flashy, can be high maintenance, and a little hard to handle (just like the original!)

I call my 15-year-old Trek "Sandbeast" because I bought it to ride on the beach, and it's a serious monster.

The other 2 bikes are just "The Specialized" and "The Trek" or "The Precious" and "The Other Precious" (think Lord of the Rings). They haven't really suggested anything naming-wise to me yet...maybe after a bit more riding.

I usually only name things if the item in question has a lot of personality -- my old Buick was "Priscilla" and my really old Oldsmobile was "Bertha." Since we now own 2 Volvos, we usually just refer to them by colour. Boring, I know.

Usually call mine something like "...you friggin' %&$##@**$% old beast!"
2 reasons, I think: cycling is the part I like least, and I didn't actually buy this bike but got it from my sister so I don't have a real emotional commitment to it.
I have to admit, I'm a little jeleous of the sweet things you all are saying about yours. Might be time to go shopping!

My tri bike is named Betty (she's all black and beautiful).  I just ordered a new roadie and since she's Italian, I'm thinking of naming her Francesca N'ogoslo.

Thanks for the replies. I don't feel like a dork now. Of course, my boyfriend had to rub it in and gave me a "see, told ya!"

Let's see if anybody who does not name his/her bike/car(s) would post.
