Overall Rank = 215/357
Age Group = 25-29
Age Group Rank = 7/13
Pre-race routine:

Woke up about 3:50am... Had my normal oatmeal w/ nana and pb. Was too tired to get my special needs/transition bags done so I did them. Couldn't find my bike gloves but found them in my car. Made some starbucks bold coffee, met my dad and off we went.
Event warmup:

No warm up really. Just put on my wetsuit, hung out w/ my family and Josh and Maria, got my hair wet, and lined up to watch the pros start.
Swim
  • 1h 32m 19s
  • 4224 yards
  • 02m 11s / 100 yards
Comments:

The lake was so calm compared to friday and saturday. I was so pleasantly surprised!!! At the start I stayed towards the back to prevent getting mowed down, kicked, or punched. Worked out pretty well. I felt really good other than my navigation kinda sucked.

I enjoyed the split course and actually met my goal of getting the swim done in 1:30.
What would you do differently?:

navigate better
Transition 1
  • 09m 27s
Comments:

I wanted to completely change b/c it was cold out. I was surprised that there were women in the changing tent that were so cold that they weren't moving, just sitting there w/ a blanket. It was cold, but not that cold.

I felt good w/ this transition.
What would you do differently?:

nothing, it would be nice if they had wetsuit pealers
Bike
  • 7h 05m 17s
  • 112 miles
  • 15.80 mile/hr
Comments:

It was 112miles of the same road I've been riding. My stomach was uncomfortable for the first 3ish hours. I think it was from the lake water I swallowed. I also had to stop Q hr for the first three hours to go pee. I can't pee on the bike! Sick! After that I was able to take more water and nutrition.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Other than I wish I didn't have to stop and pee so many times.
Transition 2
  • 08m 53s
Comments:

Only changed my top and shoes. Left my tri shorts on. Talked w/ some nice ladies in the chaging tent and they decided to lounge for a bit. I wanted this race DONE so I left.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 4h 21m
  • 26.2 miles
  • 09m 58s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt really good to start. I was so looking forward to the run all day!! I think I started to fast. I tried to keep it under 9:30, but I was hitting 8:40s in the beginning. I ran con't till about mile 19 and then I had to take some walking breaks. I would run a mile then walk abit, run a mile then walk a bit till about mi 23. Then I was walking more like half mile run half mile walk. I did run the last 1.2mi into the park. I was so happy that I was at the end that I wasn't stopping. I ran into the gates and saw all my family and I couldn't believe that I finished an ironman!!!!!
What would you do differently?:

Maybe run slower, but I wouldn't change really anything:)
Post race
Warm down:

Umm... Sat on a chair next to Laurie the RN. She wouldn't let me get up for like 10 min! haha... Talked w/ my family, Josh and Maria, and of course my wonderful husband Dan!!!!!!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My lack of training. In my heart I know I skipped some workouts and I could have done more weight training, speed training, etc... but in the end I finished w/ a smile and that was my goal!!

Event comments:

I loved this event. Cedar Point is a great venue for an IM and I was just so lucky that it is in my backyard!!!! I have so many great memories from this day and I will never forget it!

Way to go! I'm pretty sure I saw you on the run... but my mind was working so slow (slower than normal...scary) we had already passed before I could think to say much of anything!

Great Run!

Congrats on a great first ironman race!

Finishing with a 4:21 marathon is awesome!  Sounds like you hit the bike pacing strategy pretty close to what you needed for a good run.

Def stayed as strong as I could.... For doing an IM for my second tri ever I felt good

Lego- I think I did see you on the run too, but I didn't want to be a weirdo and say 'HI'.  I talked to a couple other BTers and I didn't get much response out of them. Not many people like to converse on the run for some reason ;P
