Subject: RE: BT CO - Group Swim/Bike Sat. 8/6Hey, sorry it took so long to respond, and maybe you already got a response, but here's the scoop:
Swimming at Chatfield is in the gravel pond, which is basically in the southwest corner of the reservoir, and across the main road through the park. Colorado Masters Swimming Association (COMSA ) runs swimming at the gravel pond under special permission from the park. There are hours on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, but you should check the COMSA site for more specifics. Technically, you're supposed to join COMSA to swim at the gravel pond, and an annual membership is $35. However, you can sort of casually jump in the water without checking in, and no one seems to care much. Wetsuit is optional, and I would say the water is about 70. Most people wear them, but I don't know if that relates more to temp or just training in a wetsuit. I really like swimming there, it breaks up the monotony of the pool, and of course it's great practice. |
