Well last night in our wee little city we started some running clinics. My work out buddy Stef and I are doing a couch to 5k program. We had 28 people sign up. Price was a donation to a charity and a race entry fee as a goal at the end of the clinic. her sister is running a 10K clinic and has 16 people and doing it with her mom and another friend we run with.

Last night we had 24 people show up for night number 1 in the 5K group and all 16 in the 10k group. I was impressed it was cold and raining and crappy weather. I wasn't sure we would get 50% of them.

Stef took the front of the 5k pack and I took the back and we worked back and forth up the group tossing out encouragement and ideas and helping assure people they can do this. We run the program Monday night and they are responsible for 2 runs on their own during the week following our program we handed out.

We started it as a group on FB and had 108 people join. Our city is known for a large number of cardiac issues and people out of shape.

To run down the road last night and look at 44 runners and 5 helpers (including me) Was simply AMAZING last night. What these two girls inspire to do with their already busy life is amazing  Stef a triathlete, my work out buddy, mentor and GREAT friend and her Sister a Marathon runner who is shooting for Boston and actually decided to go this time if she qualifies. Mid Training they are slowing down taking their time to help and inspire others.

I am so pleased to be a part of it and pay Stef hommage back for the help she has given me to transform into a triathlete and loose 64 lbs myself... I hope I can inspire some people myself.

Apparently everyone in the greater Raleigh area forgot how to drive in the rain! It took me 2 hours to get 21 miles to work. Actually I drove 30 to get around things! I could have biked it faster.

A woman on I540 got out of her Jeep to walk up to another car and get directions! What no GPS or cell phone? Good way to get hit.

Saw a tractor trailer/tanker lying on its side across all the lanes of traffic on I40 South. Luckily I was going north. Never been so happy to gewt to work. Later I have to brave that to get to the pool. Wish me luck.

Way to go, Chris! That's a good thing you're doing.

Doug, I hope you can make it to the pool!

REV3 folks - I just managed to get a hotel room downtown for the 14th. I didn't check the 13th, but there are rooms at several of recommended hotels for the 14th if you go directly through the hotels. Nothing on Expedia, though.

That was pretty funny.  A pic of Tony slacking while I'm off chasing the kids making sure they break, steal or eat anything.

And I followed a link from that blog post to this cute triathlon cake.  Check out the bottom.
