I mainly just run with a little cycling right now.  I injured my rotator cuff, so no pool time till probably March.  My first tri will not be until mid-June.  My winters are less specific to tri training and more concentrated on just doing something active.  If the snow is good I am not going to worry about swim/bike/run, I am going to get to the mtn and ski all the powder I can.  Being obsessed with tri training now would make me hate it come Spring time.  So I say go snowshoeing, go skiing, go rock climbing, play some hockey, play some baseketball, go hiking, take the mtn bike out, etc.  If you treat it like you have to do it and not like you want to do it then it could become very demotivating.

Living in S Florida there is very little off season.  It was supposed to be between Thanksgiving and New years but we had a half marathon and a marathon (I opted for the half) in the middle for December.  So most of December was running, very little bike and swimming.   Great mental break though.

Back at it on New Years Day with a great team workout. Had a trail half marathon yesterday (first one and it was a blast).  We are pretty much getting back into full swing for an early spring Olympic tri then the New Orleans HIM.

enjoy,
Duane

Making sure my clothes still fit.  I can tell that it's time to rachet up the workouts when the pants are getting tight!  (Which is why I'm back to working out consistently after a long layoff.)

When I'm in the off season, I enjoy it. I don't need to be motivated ;-)

Races are not what motivate me to train, exercise, workout, or whatever you want to call it.  Being healthy and active is what is important to me and that keeps me going all year round.

I'm already running this seasons races in my head. I want to crush dreams, and crushing dreams is a hard job so one has to prepare for it!

Ok, really, I just like to train and I love off season because I can just have fun with it and not really worry about what I'm doing. I have the most fun with training this time of year!

There's no off season for fitness!
If you need something to train for, find a winter running event.  I have recently become a cold weather running convert, and I'm not sure I can go back!

That was great!

That's my motivation too...except for me, it's a big butt , not a belly. ;

Ski...skate ... snowshoe.
Does the Riverwalk frreeeeze over for skating?

Although there is no tri racing for me for five months, my training is in season.   I have targeted my bike for some major speed this year.   Eagleman is where I get to test it.

My best motivator is to sign up for my major races...which I have. I fill in all of the smaller ones as I approach the season.

Numbers on my PT. I know the numbers I need to hit for my goals to be reality. I'm busting my butt to make sure I get there.

Same here.

I do visualize routes of past races when bored on spin bike or treadmill because of weather outside.

Facebook man, I see pictures of old friends that are in sweat pants and tee shirts because they are busy eating deep fried cheese sticks and working the Tivo remote.

Oh and coming in DFL in my HIM last year, I finished, but would really like to do better this year
