Man, is that the truth. At least on ST truley bad advice is shot down so fast it can make your head spin and the mods let the required beatdowns occur.

In an effort to be kind here often bad advice just stands so the poster has no idea what advice is good or bad.

I've actually been pleasantly surprised by the civility of this board since I joined a little more than a year ago.  I think you're going to find mean spirited people everywhere on the internet (hello, perceived anonymity), but I feel most confrontations here are kept very civil. 

Before doing tri's, I used to race sports cars.  You should check out some of those forums - way too much testosterone and lots of ugliness going around.

that is why its important for the knowledgeable folks to keep posting in this place especially....but i realize it can get tiresome

Yep, and as a service to the community, especially those who lurk, I feel those who know more have an obligation to not let bad advice stand.  Some of us (myself included) also have an obligation to our large egos to tear down the giver of the advice instead of just the advice itself.

But you know, it's sorta like Jewels said "You are the beginners, and I am the tyranny of experienced triathletes.  But I'm tryin BT, I'm trying real hard to be the shepherd."

And many don't anymore and that's a shame and lessens the community. And the reason they have given up is because they get people who clearly know very little agruing with them for pages and pages with other people chimming in telling them not to be mean. That doesn't happen on ST.

Unless you are visiting slowtwitch.com, you really have no clue what a "not so friendly forum" is. And no offense, this is just another forum that should be taken very lightly in everything that is being exchanged.
This is entertainment. If you are taking it too seriously, need to lighten up. If there are few feisty threads, that is ok too, it is called life. People learn to cope with it. 
If this is stressing you out, I can imagine what triathlon training is doing to you.
When I see a ridiculous title to a thread, I don't even read it, like "How many times do you shower...? What is it that poster needs from a question like that, maybe mom telling him Larry go take a shower after each practice as you stink......So, I don't even read those. 
Pick and choose what is relevant to your training that may help you improve or point you where to look for answers, don't waste your time.
