Pre-race routine:

Porridge and tea for breakfast, got up too late to cycle to the start so drove
Event warmup:

None
Bike
  • 4h 28m 37s
  • 100 kms
  • 22.34 km/hr
Comments:

A very relaxed ride due to doing it with a groups of friends, some who were fairly slow and not confident with hills.
I had a little breakaway in the last 20km after a group almost forced me off the road with inconsiderate riding, managed to get past all of them on the hills and stay ahead on the flats even when they pushed the speed to 39km/hr. After that I stopped and waited for my group, legs felt fresh and strong.
What would you do differently?:

Not much, I felt very comfortable and knew before the ride that the pace in our group was going to be slow so just relaxed into it.
Post race
Warm down:

Gentle ride back to the car, coffee

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Today wasn't about speed, just endurance

Event comments:

Great route and very friendly volunteers, ride was 7km short and the end was a bit of an anti-climax. Also, the final 60km is a route I ride quite often on my own so paying $60 to ride it felt a bit much.
