Comments:

I started off at a good pace (8:45), and held it until mile 1 marker and THE hill. At the top of the hill, my right calf cramped like a freaking vice, so I had to walk. Mike passed me at the turn around (just before mile 2), and I was watching for Ben (my 10 year old son). Saw Ben, gave him a quick pep talk to encourage him to keep going, and got my game on. I was determined to make up some time, so at the 2 mile marker, I turned on the slow, fat, white girl jets. Legs were toasted and the last .1 was in soft white sand up to the finish line! UGH!!

What would you do differently?:

Run faster??!
Post race
Warm down:

Grabbed a water and went back to see Mike cross the finish. Grabbed another water, then took Beka back out on the course to find Ben. He was just coming up to the 2.5 mile, so we all ran him in to the finish line. He did a fabulous job finishing in 41:01! He didn't feel well yesterday, so today's race was kinda up in the air, but he stuck it out and did it!! He's my hero!! :)

Too bad you had to go and get a calf cramp the day after your massage!!

I hope you all had fun, and that's so cool that Ben was feeling good enough to follow through with the race!!

What a nice way to spend the day as a family!  Setting a great example for those kiddos.

Cool race!  Congrats Wendi!  Way to hang through the issues.  Give Mike and Ben a good slap on the back for me.

Sounds like a fun time, and it's cool that you get your kids to run with you. I have been doing some 1 mile fun runs w/my youngest, but I can't get my older daughter to run unless I threaten to beat her!
