Total Time = 47m 52s
Overall Rank = 1093/1955
Age Group = F3039
Age Group Rank = 162/362
Pre-race routine:

Met with Lynne (xterratri)outside of my apt. We decided to drive her car in case she wants to go home earlier. Being the proud Bostonian, I drove her car on I93 heading toward WTC, took one exit earlier and ended up at the airport. When we got back to I93, I was looking for exit 23 (airport was exit 24). Drove through Ted Williams Tunnel, next thing I know was we were in Dorchester (exit 18). Finally found our way to WTC at 7:30. I upside is, Lynne had the chance of going through the famous Big Dig of Boston.
Event warmup:

Warmed up inside Dunkin Donuts. Met with Max, TAGP, KathtG, EmilyG and KevinG, isis54, Tri_again), CptnJackSparrow and Mrs. Sparrow, akabak and c2fd. Took some pictures. Asked non-runners to hold our jackets.
Watched the 1/2 marathoners start.
isis54, akabak and I lined up at the 10 min pace line for the 5-miler. Isis went missing. Didn't find nikki either.
Run
  • 47m 52s
  • 5 miles
  • 09m 34s  min/mile
Comments:

Was kind of cold at the beginning. The first mile was like a warm up. Ran with akabak. Pointed at the 1st mile-marker to her, when she was still 2 steps behind me. Then I started falling into pace with my music and lost her. Speeded up at the middle of Saint Saen's Havannaise, when the tempo picked up. Music changed to some 90s Cantonese techno. Kept up with the pace for mile 2,3 and 4. Didn't realized I slowed down at the end.
What would you do differently?:

Should skip that slow song at the end. I was pacing with my music.
Post race
Warm down:

Turned out isis54 was ahead of me. She was waiting there when I crossed the finish line. A few minutes later, akabak come in.
Walked around, ate 1/2 a bagel, waited for the 1/2 marathoners.

Event comments:

Official gun time was 48:35, net time was 47:52. So my watch is pretty accurate :)
Will fill in official rank when available.

You ended up in Dorchesta too? GOODNESS! I've already done all my raving about your pace in person, and given you kudos for your improvement over the last year! YOU ROCK!

I had fun hanging out with you and Lynne after the race

Nice run DK!! You are getting so fast! So you had a nice tour of the top spots in Bosotn, huh? You're lucky you made it out of Logan, once you're in it's so hard to get out again. Did you think of me at the WTC?? Maybe I'll be there with you all next year. I don't know though - if I ever move back north I don't know if I'll be able to run in the cold like you guys!

Nice race DK!  Enjoyed chatting with you tonight.  Your training looks excellent too.  Keep up the great work.

That's quite a group you have there.  I haven't met too many BTers in this area yet, but I'm sure I will.
