Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 5:00 AM, ate cereal and apple sauce and got ready. Ate a 1/2 Powerbar on walk to race start.
Event warmup:

Walk to race start--it was freaking cold as shit. It was just under 40-degrees, but there was a 20 mph wind blowing which made it pretty horrible. Fitphd and Trixie found cast off clothing from the 1/2 Mary (which started a 1/2 hour before us) which helped stave off the cold a bit.

Comments:

Well, marathon #2 is done. It definitely wasn't as painful as #1; however, I didn't do as well as I wanted to. However, it was super fun with the BT cast of thousands hundreds many! I had an absolute blast hanging out with Trixie, Fitphd, theattorney and everyone else! Trixie and Fit and I hung together for the 1st half avg. about a 9 minute mile. Then Fit's ITB really started acting up and Trixie decided to stick with her and I wanted to see if I could maintain the pace. Suffice to say, I would have had way more fun sticking with them. Without their energy and fun-ness, the 2nd half was dull and though I never really hit a sudden wall, I definitely fell off the pace. I just couldn't keep hanging. Poo. In any event, it was only my 2nd marathon, and I just wanted to experiment with how my body. Next time I think I'm going to try the run/walk--if I do another before IMFL since Lord knows I will be run/walking the marathon on that mutthafucka!
What would you do differently?:

Follow the training plan and not spend the last 2 months prior to race day commuting coast to coast every week. While I did my long runs consistently, I really quit doing the true interval and LT runs during the weekdays after the first month or so. I would put the right milage in, but not do the right type and intensity of training. So what I ended up with was a very very very light milage program.

Warm down:

Uh, stew.

My bad...I thought fit was a boy and theattorney was a girl. Either way, watch out for fit. : ) Great race all of you. It sounds like it was a lot of fun.

Great, great mary, Debbie - glad you got to stretch out the legs over the last half, even if it meant missing out on the lawlessness behind you.  And it was a great result, considering the goofy travel sched.

Sounds like you had a fatasmorgastic time with the gang.  The real question:  Didja get an izzle?   And I assume you can win, or at least make a good showing in the 'name those fine hams' contest.

I know, it can get confusing at times.  Just think if you saw their act in person.  It wouldn't clear things up.
