Pre-race routine:

Had a ham and cheese and a glass of soy milk at 7am. Watched TV. Left home at 8am. Drove to the light rail park-n-ride. Rode the light rail for 2 stops to get to the Minnehaha Park. Arrived site at around 845am. Met with Sparco and his wife. Was amazed by the sheer number of people there!!!
Event warmup:

Bounced up and down at the starting line while waiting for the gun to go off.
Run
  • 1h 12m 25s
  • 6.25 miles
  • 11m 35s  min/mile
Comments:

Time went by much faster when you ran with a big group, even though I didn't have my music with me. The temperature wasn't a problem at all as long as I was in motion. I think I sprinted during the last 1/4 mile, just to pass people. :)
What would you do differently?:

Train more! Oh, and I need to improve my posture cus' I slouch. :( Perhaps change my name to SUSIE so that nobody would mispronounce my name ever again. (The announcer said me "DENNIS" as I crossed the finish.)
Post race
Warm down:

Met with bf at finish line. First thing he said to me was "I went to BK and had a croissanwich and hot chocolate while you ran." Hmph. Stretched my calves a bit, then head straight to the tent with the big sign that said "FOOD". Ate a little piece of bread with raisin in it and took home some goodies. :)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of training.

Event comments:

I gave the race a #5 because of the people. Not just my fellow runners, but also the volunteers, the announcer, the random spectators... The poor weather condition made the event even more memorable (i.e. increase the bragging right by fourfold.)

Didn't bring my HRM with me.
Course: We ran on the roads inside the park which are lined with trees and lovely houses. Best part of the course was that we get to cross the Mississippi river twice. The view was exhilarating.

See?  Isn't it fun running, especially racing in the rain?  People think we're nuts, but I love it.

Congrats on having a great race.  Too bad the bf didn't bring you any tasties from the BK.

Great job running. I haven't ran over a 5K yet. I better get my butt in gear if I plan to run a 1/2 mary in ten months.  Awesome work on not biting your nails, now your not biting other peoples nails to compensate are you? Keep up the good work.

Congrats and great job!  Time passes so much quicker when racing and running with people, also to the the change of scene.  I love to sprint toward the end of the race course so that I look fierce and competitive.

You still get your name mis-pronounced?  Looking forward to the pictures.
