Running worked well for me, but I'm not allowed to run for at least 8 more months!

LOTS of elliptical work, cycling and a bit of weights is helping to do the job though!

Down almost 20 pounds since my post accident peak about 2 months ago.  22 more to go til I am at pre-accident weight :p

188.3 this morning on the scale. feeling pretty good considering I have not been running this week. Doing Ellipitical instead. My foot has been hurting and I am "resting" it.

I am doing well with eating clean except for that Super Bowl party. I wanted to get a long run in that day. I ran but not as long as I wanted.

Keep on pressing on!

We can do it!

I am in again. I feel like i make progress then for some reason the weight comes back on. Got no idea why or how.

Think i need to really cut out a few things and start cleaning up my diet seriously and weighing the food that i eat.

I have noticed that highs are lower but my weight flutcuates so much with water rentention it is disheartening week on week. I mean i can loose 3kg of water in a exercise session

Start weight 94.0kg or 207.2

Goal: 91kg. consistently

Question for the group... waht is the most succesful way you have lost weight

Interval training.  Whether it is running, swimming, biking or weights interval training has been how I lost the most weight the fastest.  You get your heart rate way up and it helps burn more fat that way.

In again.  Thursday is my official weigh day so here's 1 and 2.  Goal for the month is sub 205.  Had a bumpy December and end of January, but still down 7# from 12/1, so it's good

1/1/12 - 211.8

1/2/12 - 211

2/9/12 - 211....   I seem to have hit a bit of a plateau.

I am actually not sure where I should end up.   I have a lot of people that care about me and with my best interests in mind (not the "you're too skinny" or jealous types, it's sincere) saying I look good and should stop here.  I suppose I will let my body decide.  There are some more changes I could make, but I need to have balance in my life, as I am in this as a lifestyle way of eating, not as a crash diet to get to a certain weight.  I think I eat pretty healthy at the moment.. I think..  and training for a HIM, I can't do the severe calorie restriction, which I don't think is a great idea with the training load.

So we'll see how the next week goes.  At least I am not gaining

On the plus side, ran a nearly 3 minute 10K PR last weekend, even holding back a bit as we had a 2 hour ride planned for afterward.  And my easy running pace has dropped about :20 per mile, with the help of the weight loss.  So I am quite happy where I am at the moment

January sucked due to an annoying illness, so I'm back after a very small loss from last month.

2/1  151.2   BF%: 16.6

2/8  153.6  BF%: 16.8

2/15

2/22

2/29

goal 147 sub 15% bf

Superbowl party > a good week of workouts.........not going to beat myself up over it as I had a good time.

thanks..... with the amount of water i can loose in a session its difficult to track sometimes.... but week on week highs are lower and lows are lower too.

8/02/2012 - 93.1kg or 205.2lbs

Good stuff thats what i like to see.

For me running is the best and fastest way to lose weight. Last year I was doing a lot more biking and swimming and really struggled losing weight, this year I am focusing on running and it is dropping much faster.

Looks like you are finding a way to drop those pounds, Great job!

Another weekend in the books heading into Valentines day tomorrow, how did everyone fare over the weekend?

I am finally over the death cold, still have a cough but feel 100% better, and had some good workouts but eating was still a little sketchy.

Almost half way through another month with spring coming!

Another weekend in the books heading into Valentines day tomorrow, how did everyone fare over the weekend?

Well, since you asked....

I took my wife out for Valentine's Day at an amazing local restaurant, Emma's Food For Life. Everything on the menu is locally sourced, or at least whole foods sources. The only soda on the menu is a ginger beer made with honey. As I have kept honey as an ok sugar source, I had one and it was delightful. I had risotto with roasted beets and walnuts, and part of a spanikopita appetizer. I skipped dessert, but my wife got to enjoy chocolate and raspberry crepes. Didn't phase me.

The next day I returned to a local trail run that was my first organized run last year. A bit over 3.6 miles on snow covered rocky trails in a state park with some good climbs. I took 78 minutes last year. Shaved 15 minutes off my time this year and palced ahead of about 10 people, instead of dead last.

Capped off the great weekend with this morning's weigh-in - down 4.6 from last week. Discipline is paying off.

This week is going way better than last week.  I got in a good bike on Saturday and a nice 8 mile run Sunday.  Should have good results for Wednesday.  I also had a good talk with a guy at the pool that is wanting to start tri's.  I gave him a lot of encouragement and hopefully he sticks with it.  He could only swim the length of the pool before having to stop, I told him that is where I started out too.  Felt good to hopefully keep him going in the right direction.

1-1-12:  249.8

1-12-12: 244.2

1-24-12:  239.0

2-11-12:  236.2

Well it had to slow down sooner or later...hahaha.  My goal is to finish out February at 232.  I'm almost halfway to my goal of 220.  And I've been knocked out of training for about a week and a half due to illness.  I'm definately encouraged by the results so far.  Visible difference in the mirror, my pants are looser and I keep on moving up on belt notches.

2/1 - 161 lbs.
2/6 - 160.5
2/13 - 160.5

Had hit 159.5 during the week, but my eating is getting sloppy. Thai food and even though I limited myself to the fish soup without the noodles, don't know how much oil it had and the sodium was high.
Can't worry about water retention though - a lb or two of water wouldn't matter if I was down 30lbs. of fat!

Claaw, you are doing so well!

dfquigley - I really feel for you with an injury. I let myself go, but to see people work so hard and to be sidelined.

I feel for a friend that is struggling with injuries. She would do ultramarathons running once to the point of kidney failure the next day. An injury left her unable to run enough so she signed up for Tough Mudder. Mind you, she's 48. I used to look up to her ability to ignore pain, but I probably shouldn't. With all her upper body work she ignored new pains which have turned out to be two hernias, stomach wall probably tore along her old c-section scars. She doesn't show it but I can't imagine how she's not crushed at how her athletic life is turning out.

She punished her body with sports, I punished mine with food - I hope to find a healthy balance.

I've had a heckuva a crappy week and I've taken it out on myself by eating junk.

I will weigh in tomorrow. It will not be pretty. January went so well, it's hard to put up with February.

But I can't let it throw me under...tonight I'm cooking a pretty healthy dinner and tomorrow is a new day.

THis month sucks!

First the great death cold of 2012 sidelined me for 5 days, now I slept wrong on Sunday and my right shoulder has been getting progressively worse. Finally broke down and went to the ER tonight cause I can't sleep, barely lift anything and am miserable. Muscle spasms, no idea how, but they gave me relaxers and Vicadin and sent me on my way.

92.2kg 203.3lns or  this week. I have undertaken serious portion control and it is working wonders. My high weight this week was 94kg which only a couple of weeks ago was my low week. Some people have commented that i am looking skinnier.

My first long course race this weekend.... 2k swim, 83k bike ride and 20k run. going for finishing first then 5hrs 30mins.

npenner02 - 2012-02-01 9:22 PM 2/1: 203.6 goal for the month198.6
I was right about my weight being down a couple of lbs from yesterday! Now to get sub 200 this month! I haven't been sub 200 in probably 8 years! Let's do this!

2/1: 203.6

2/8: 203.6  I figured after the weekend I had of eating that I would be lucky if I didn't gain a pound.  Glad I got in all the training I did so that it wasn't worse.  Now to get back on track.  Need to keep my eating super clean this week and get my miles in.  Also got some exciting news this week that I will be part of the American Cancer Societys Determination team in the NYC marathon!  So now I have my A race for the year and it will be November 4th so I should be in good shape going into the winter!  For clarification I just got asked because its a fundraising team, not because I am fast or anything.  But NYC is a once and a lifetime deal so I will take it.

2/15: 199.2  Surprised  I only have theories as to why I dropped 4 lbs in a week.  I was 201 last Thursday so I was only a day off from losing 2 lbs last week and 2 this week.  Anyway you look at it I am on track to get to my goal this month!  I am keeping up with workouts and eating healthy.  I never feel starved or crave anything.  I am also Under 200 for the first time in 8 or 9 years and I have this website/group to thank.  I finally put my goals on paper and had people keeping me accountable.  Now I have an indoor tri this weekend that I am hoping to set personal records in all three legs!
