Subject: RE: Long run the day before long ride?The 'quality' of your long ride is likely to be lessened doing it this way. Of course, doing it reversed, the 'quality' of your long run is lessened. How important is that? Probably marginal in the grand scheme. I do much prefer to seperate the two (e.g., do a mid-week long run and a weekend long ride)--just as I try to seperate any of my 'quality' workouts to provide adequate recovery between them. But if that schedule works well for you and you are able to maintain consistency week-in and week-out, then you'll be just fine come race day. As others noted, alternating weekends of 'big ride'/'big run' is another option to consider (especially if doing two 'big' workouts starts impacting your weekday workout plans). |
