I skipped my 8 mile run this past Sunday because a friend of mine called and told me we had tickets to the final round of the Masters.  I told my coach I missed my run and he said it could be my cheat day for the month.  I told him it was a no brainer whether he liked it or not!

Anyone else got a good reason for missing a workout?

Well, I took the last two days off because Sunday I tripped and smacked the brick sidewalk full-force while running and banged up my elbow, hip, knee, and shoulder so bad you can see the imprint of a corner of a brick on my right elbow. Got back to it today. (really should've taken pictures)

I've also skipped to mow the lawn. Those SOB's won't stop growing, and I have limited time so I have to strike while the iron's hot..

Nobody's going to beat your final round of the Masters excuse.  Mods can go ahead and close the thread.

Drove the swimming pool (20 min drive), went to the change room...

...I forgot my bathing suit.

My missed workouts always boil down to two categories.

1. Kids

2. Work

I have three screws in my foot.  I've missed an awful lot of workouts in the past 5 weeks.

This:

I missed 5 consecutive workouts last month because of her.  Totally worth it.

Posted this the other day but...

Monday I skipped my 5am swim because when I got to the pool, the lifeguard told me that he had just "shocked" the pool on the right side and that I should pick a lane on the left side.  The entire pool was as cloudy as a glass of milk.

I skipped a lunch bike ride today due to possible rain...will be on the trainer tonight to make up for it tho.

And both of those are just this week.

Oh that doesn't stop any of FoggyGoggles friends from swimming in their tighty whities!!!  You need to bring a better excuse than that to BT!!! (I wish I could find the thread so you could read it over - it would probably be funnier then )

I think I might've read about that one... did it involve sweaty guys and hot tubs?

You're right though, now I have a plan B for next time that happens.

^^^ You win.  Were you the guy that gave back Luis Oo's Albatross ball?

I'm with Farlig though...my "best" reason for a training break was an unexpected C-Section that brough along this little beauty.  I was literally putting on my bike shorts when I got the famous words, "Uh...honey?  I think it's time to go..."

Lizzie Dee

(I'll also be missing Friday's long ride workout to take my 4-yr old son to the Giants' home opener for his birthday.  Not going to miss that workout a bit!)

This, except I had to go to a pool 35 minutes away since the local one was closed.Don't think I didn't consider seeing how many laps I could get in before getting pulled out of the water and arrested...

Missed a workout because my dog had to go to the Vet.  She had a splinter in her chest (very weird indeed, but it was an inch long splinter and I have pictures to prove it!), and had to have a mini surgery. Going back and forth to the vet and being a worrywart, I skipped my 30 minute run. lol  LAMEST EXCUSE ever...but still! :-)

Missed a run and swim yesterday because of school... going into finals week with a million papers and projects and presentations due this week... Up at 6 yesterday and was either in class or doing homework until 11 PM.

The only reason I miss workouts is when I don't want to do them....which thankfully isn't very often but does happen.

I'm assuming we aren't including things like injuries and being sick cause those are kind of obvious.

One can only hope that your reason #1 is not a result of your reason #2

Aside from the obvious (illness, work), mainly weather-related. I think I posted pics of the floods last fall that washed out a run. It was so bad I couldn't even get to the gym to use a treadmill. (Okay, not that I tried too hard!)  And last week missed a bike ride as we'd just had a tropical storm and the roads were full of downed trees and power lines. Also, long-haul flights and travel delays. I wish they'd put workout equipment on planes! And yes, once this year I missed a swim because I forgot my suit. Undies not an option when you swim at your place of employment!
