The BT training log is very well done but I want something that is more like an Excel spreadsheet that I can save on my laptop or thumb drive when ever I travel.

Is there a reason you wouldn't be able to log onto BT wherever you go? I thought that was one of the great things about the web, it's available 24/7.

Sorry, can't help with the spreadsheet, I use BT logs as well as connect.google.com to keep track of workouts.

I use Trainingpeaks primarily.

Utilizing an Excel file would be a pain, it mgiht be easier to do a Database (access).

But if you are set on Excel, then let's look at:

- What data do you have available?

- What do you want to get out of it?

- What output format do you desire?

This might be what you're looking for: http://forum.slowtwitch.com/cgi-bin/gforum.cgi?post=3853876#3853876

Scold me if I've broken a sacred rule.

Plus, I'll second the training logs here.  You may not be aware, but there is also an iPhone app that allows you to post your workouts to the training logs.

Not sure if this is what you're talking about, but I use Excel to write my training plans.
Here's an example attached.

I use the same color coding as this site uses... Swim = purple, Bike = green, Run = yellow, Sports = red

Wow that is a crazy amount of data. Thanks. Just went through it very quickly and must say that it is a lot of good things in it. I'll probably take some idea from it.

Thanks Lisa. What I am thinking is something with a little bit more details but it is a very good start for me as far as how I can strat building a template.

To be honest, not really. Although I am a heavy internet user (guess there is no suprise as I am a member of BT), I somehow don't like to store all the data online. Even with other files, I always tend to have a backup on an external storage someone.

Also I work in a field where I do a lot of data analysis using excel so I wanted to have something build so I can play with during my spare time.

I use both an Excel worksheet and the BT logs for my workouts.  I use the Excel woksheet to plan out my workouts for the season along with my races.  I continually fine tune the weeks ahead as things change.  The BT logs are great for tracking over longer time and being able to motivate me to hit my weekly and monthly volumes.

I do not know how to post my spreadsheet but if you pm me an e-mail address I can send to you.

I like BT as well.  Even if you don't have internet access, with the app or mobile site, you can get access to it on your smartphone.  So it's even MORE accessable than a spreadsheet on a laptop.  I would have to at least turn that on and let it boot up (not hard, of course).  My phone is just in my pocket.  Click a button and I'm on BT.
