Jasen, you beat me too it posting a photo of Dan (The Blue Man) Quick.  All the supporters and especially the kids on the IMAZ 2011 course were talking about "The Blue Man", chasing him around to get a "high five".  When I mentioned that I know Dan, everyone wanted to know all about him and I honestly think his antics and interaction with people convinced a few to try out multi-sport that day.  He is just a brilliant ambassador and reminds us that this sport is fun!

I have never ran in a costume. I have in the past had a friend of mine shave various superhero logos into my chest hair. She loves it and thinks it is great advertising. I also think it is great to be peeling off a wetsuit and be sporting a Superman S on your chest.

At my last sprint I came across this guy on my way back in on the run.  For a second I thought maybe I really should have gotten a cup of water at that last water station.  Good stuff.  I saw him come in.  That costume made him work for sure.  It was getting hot out there.

He was dressed as Vader last year, but only on the run.

I did a sprint tri on Halloween last year in my Greatest American Hero costume. I put it on in T1. I don't recommend wearing a cape on the bike...it felt like one of my brakes was dragging. I also carried a portable mp3 speaker with me and had Joey Scarbury's "Believe It Or Not" and Bonnie Tyler's "I Need a Hero" on a continuous loop. You can see in the last photo that, in true GAM style, I crashed into the finish line arch.

Seriously? So anyone out there in costume, being expressive, is just screwing around? I could introduce you to a few clowns who could school you on the truth of the matter.

To the OP:
I saw a couple of great tri suits with a sense of humor at  IMLP this year ... one was sub 11 hours if I recall correctly. Plenty of people were still having fun ... dyed hair, rabbit ears, etc.

You gotta be yourself ... everyone else is already taken.

Rover24 - 2012-07-25 8:17 AM I have been searching for flesh colored shorts to wear for my local sprint series and we can race w/no shirt, I think it would get alot of looks.

I also saw one designed like a man's body wearing a speedo. I can't find an image of it, though.

Reminded me... these guys usually place top 5 in this 44-mile relay. Ex college cross country team mates.
Nothing like seeing a guy cruise past you wearing a full beer bottle costume!

JKLipsky - 2012-07-25 10:34 AM My wife and I did a sprint triathlon on Halloween a few years ago dressed as the incredibles.   Both of us did the whole race (yes, including the swim) in full costume.

Awesome!  My husband and I are planning to run a 10k around Halloween with our daughter in the jogger.  We were thinking that the Incredibles would be a great family costume! Also, pretty easy to run in.

It is pretty easy to make as well. We bought red leggings, black gloves, and masks from the local party store, long sleeve under armour shirts from the local sporting good store, ankle high black socks, wore our running shoes (I actually already had a pair in black so pretty much lucked out), and went online to e-bay and bought Incredibles symbol iron-ons (which ended up getting sewed on to stay).
