Sense this is the gun thread can we be exact in the words we use?  "Assault" weapons are defined already by law (National Firearms Act of 1934)(NFA) as a weapon that is capable of fully automatic fire OR has a barrel length less than 16" for rifles and 18" for shotguns OR has a device to reduce noise emitted when firing (aka suppressor/silencer). These weapons are regulated by the NFA and considered Class 3 weapons and have significant restrictions and regulations I wont go into here.

So, sense the Benelli M4 does not meet any of the above please to not call it an assault weapon, it is a semi automatic shotgun nothing more or less. 

Come on now, don't let the facts get in the way of a good gun control sound bite.  Anything that fires a projectile is an "Assault Weapon"

Gotta love Uncle Biden's sage advise!

I don't know which video that is of the Veep and his advice on shotguns for women and home defense....but his comments are everything that's wrong with the gun debate. 

Alot of the anti-gun side make arguments and give advice very similar to what Biden did, and the folks who are comfortable with guns and their gun rights look at him and wonder what in the hell could possibly be going on in his pea brain to make him say something like that? 

There is no way, after that, to take him seriously in any way. 

It ain't that hard ta watch guys!

But anyway the title is Women Take Biden's Advice.

Compilation of women and their not so fun experiences with shotguns. Then a nice clip of a woman enjoying the low recoil and ease of use of an AR.

I grew up not far down the road from Remington Arms in Ilion, NY.  The 870 they made is the best pump shotgun ever made. The Wingmaster is still the great gun it always was, although at a high price point. (Their 700 is the best center fire bolt action rifle IMHO)

The newer 870 Express is a different animal though. Quality suffered in getting the price point down.

Enter the old standby, the Mossberg 500.  I'll grant you not as good as the Wingmaster, but better than the Express at a similar price point, IMHO. The tang safety is fast in the field as well.

Right now, I'm looking at a new CZ over under the Ultralight for grouse hunting.  I think it comes out of Turkey where a lot of shotguns are being made these days. 6LBs with 26" O/U barrels!

Poor Ilion, NY. The state of NY has not been kind to the gun industry.

But of course that's the old language.  Under the new Feinstein bill, the new "assualt weapons" ban, the term "assualt weapon" has been redefined.  And it has been redefined with usch accuracy that they had to explicetly exempt about 850 firearms by name.  Additionally the Feinstein "assualt weapons" ban also bans certain semi automatic shotguns and certain semi automatic hand guns.  So, don't let your common sense and understanding of firearms get in the way of what is going on in D.C., an "assault weapon" is now whatever the government says it is and it's going to banned and if you are grandfathered in then you will have to register your semi auto "assualt weapon" and you can never transfer it even after your death and not even to family memebrs in a will.

Benelli's are the bomb, but OMG expensive.  I picked up a Mossberg 930SPX semi auto 12 ga. last year for around $700.  I spent another $150 upgrading the follower, mag tube, and mag spring and it's the bomb.  I've put probably 1500 shells through it with a lot of abuse and it just begs for more.

I carried a Mossberg 500 in the Navy and those things got beat to crap, but always worked.  I'm very confident in it for a home defense Shotty.  Now for long range slug or bird shooting, I have no clue how it compares, but don't care. 

Yeah, you are right.  I should have stipulated 870 Wingmaster.  Here's my Wingmaster duck gun, hanging in the tree.  Took it out of the box 15 years ago, replaced the stock and forearm with plastic ones, took sandpaper to the metal, and sprayed it with Krylon....it needs a new coat....and yeah, that's duct tape around the stock.  I used the stock to open a frozen door one morning.....poor choice for cold plastic.

I clean it at the end of the season by running a garden hose over it, take the guts out and run them through the dishwasher.....put it up and wait until next season.

We turn the vast majority into sausage sticks....but some get left for the coyotes.

Hey if I could cut all the other workers pay that work for the same company I do but maintain my pay, I'd probably think I was special too. 

About that whole not able to transfer your guns thing, kind of a sad story I don't have any.  They all went overboard when we where on the house boat a while back. Guess I should start over with non-assault guns...wife is not going to be happy.

More than one buddy of mine do that to their Glocks. Seems to work well enough

Yep, I use dawn dishwasher detergent and the parts come out grease/oil/gunk free and completely dry.

One note:

After running your gun/parts through the dishwasher it's a good idea to run it again, empty, before your wife looks in there.......don't ask me how I know this, the learning of the information was too painful to go back to in my mind.

I wish I had time for a new pup......nothing like it.  Enjoy!
