Master 8247 Eugene, Oregon | Subject: RE: 5.1.13 Rabbit Rabbit! Okay, I have to brag and then I can go to bed.....60 km ride with two faster people. Managed to average 31 kph, and it wasn't all, or even mostly, drafting (Lost contact several times and had to catch back up--possible only since they stopped for lights occasionally.) Broke my best Oly split and then continued at the same pace for another 20 km. OMG. Actually don't feel sore or that tired tonight--odd how a ride that I would classify at the time as an NDE (Near Death Experience) workout doesn't take as much out as a run of that intensity. Really useful experience. The woman I was riding with is very close to my weight/height/build but a fantastic cyclist--realized right away that if I geared down and upped my cadence to match hers, I could hold a faster pace for a longer time than with the bigger gear I usually try to push. I almost always bike solo or with people who are bigger/stronger than me so never realized that. |

Veteran 2842 Austin, Texas | Subject: RE: 5.1.13 Rabbit Rabbit! Bailed on my easy 3 mile run this morning after 0.5 with top of foot pain (too tight lacing at a weekend race, I think). Hope this goes away SOON. But, did get a great swim workout in. 1500 at a bit over 25' (v. good for me - I have a high drag:power ratio in the pool!), 5x100, 500 cool down. Felt GREAT in my new goggles and jammers (that don't leak and aren't see through, respectively - much better than the converse). Going for a ~50 mile ride up a local ski hill with a work colleague (sounds more professional than riding buddy) in an hour or so. Too nice here to even describe today! Good luck getting after it BT! OK I am Jealous looks Like a very Nice ride indeed. Don't be. Most of my rides are on the trainer in my basement in Pennsylvania. It's rare that I get to enjoy riding some place like this.

Extreme Veteran 1234 West Michigan | Subject: RE: 5.1.13 Rabbit Rabbit! Update on my ride yesterday. The weather was 82 degrees, somewhat windy but absolutely gorgeous. My buddy was really feeling it so rather than turn around at the 20 mile mark (we were on a rail-trail) he kept wanting to extend... SO, the 40 miler turned into a 53.5 miler....Not a huge difference but enough that the legs were pretty much shot by the time I got home.. The funny thing is he was so wiped out the last 15 or so miles that I pulled the last 10-12 miles including a few fairly nasty hills closer to home... I bought a new Tarmac recently and am falling more and more in love with it's responsiveness....

That's awesome! I had the exact opposite experience. My buddy wasn't feeling it (he's had bike races each of the past 2 weekends and another this weekend), so our ~50 miler turned into a 25 miler (and I pulled a lot, too). Still a great ride, given the AWESOME weather! Truth be told, my legs were wobbly, too. Glad you're falling for your new mount. It's a sweet ride, for sure. I'm on the Venge (an aero Tarmac ride), which I love, but the Tarmac has a very different (and wicked nice) road feel - all sprinty/climby feeling! Matt |

Matt Interestingly my buddy rides a Venge....His other road bike is a 12 y/o Motobecane Titanium...Mine was a 10 year old Ironhorse... We were both looking and I wanted either a Venge or Tarmac, he didn't seem to care, just wanted to find a deal... I never did come across a Venge that met all my requirements but obviously did find a Tarmac so I was beyond happy! My buddy bought his Venge from a guy who races and interestingly this year he chose a Tarmac... Apparently the team members can choose their bike models as long as they are Specialized.... |

Must be nice! I rode both and decided on the aero. Really came down to liking the feel of that bike, that day (also rode a couple Cervelo R and S models). I've been super happy with the Venge for roadie pursuits, but on the occasional hill or town line I start to look at those round tube bikes with a green eye. Well, it's a better workout, I guess... Just bought a tri-bike (getting it Saturday!), but look for that in a separate post, cuz without pics, it didn't happen. Enjoy the Tarmac. I like looking at them as they whizz past me on the hills!! |

This is too funny.... I have a Cervelo P2SL that I've had a few years now and just love....It was the roadie that was lacking and in group rides or just a few of us, I just felt I was working so much harder than the other guys...At times I just didn't have the right gear... Plus I had upgraded so many different components it was a franken bike...Not that there's anything wrong with upgrading, however there is most definitely symetry with original components...I probably didn't do enough home work when I swapped out the crank, cassette, deraillers etc.. So what kind of Tri bike did you go with? Good luck deciding which to ride in races...I'm doing a HIM in August and it will be hilly...I'm seriously considering the Tarmac for that race. Definitely the Cervelo for the sprints and OLY's.. |

Veteran 2842 Austin, Texas | Subject: RE: 5.1.13 Rabbit Rabbit! Spoiler alert (like anyone else is even reading). I went with a 2009 (new to me) Cervelo P2C. Used the money I saved going used to buy some sweet wheels (sub-9 and 808 front, set of 404s to match my current 808 rear - all set for my road and tri bikes), all tubies, and all also "new to me" but not new. Getting it Saturday, going to shoot for a fitting Sunday and then ride it constantly for the next year (unless I'm running or swimming)!!! I'll post pics probably next week just to prove it to the doubting Thomas types on BT. |

And welcome to the Cervelo Mafia (I know there's a felt one already but Cervelo sounds more mobbish)!!! |
